Despite their initial hesitation, living with Anne has softened the Flock, so Max is keenly aware that it's time to leave. With Thanksgiving so near, though, all of them want to stay, at least until they've had their first ever Thanksgiving turkey! But danger is on the horizon as Jeb's plan advances, and while the Flock's new school seems normal and safe, secrets are hidden beneath its prestigious facade...
Discovered by Yen Press Senior Editor JuYoun Lee, NaRae was able to make her U.S. debut working on a series that already had legions of devoted fans. It's a lot to live up to, but NaRae proved to be up to the challenge by delivering artwork that looks remarkably polished for a relative newbie to the world of international manga publishing.
YES! I just finished reading this volume! =D All I can say is that it's as good and awesome (they mean the same thing...) as the others. If you don't want to know the pros and cons aswell as some spoilers from the manga then DO NOT KEEP READING!
*spoilers*
1. They left out a very important scene from the book ( in my point of view) which clearly shows the progress of Fang and Max's relationship. The scene that I speak of is when Sam and Max kiss after their date and Fang is watching. The manga skips right over that detail and doesn't show nearly enough of Fang's jealousy as seen in the book.. =( But thats just because I'm a FAX supporter...
2. Ari looks different from the other volumes. He seemed less..... I dunno.... CREEPY. Actually, he was better looking which makes sense considering the fact that Erasers are supposed to look like super-models. =P I just thought that it was weird to suddenly change him so suddenly... ??
I read the book Maximum Ride volume 4 by James Patterson. I think this book was the best maximum ride book that I have ever read. This I think was my favorite book that I have read in the entire year. At first when I saw this book I thought that is wouldn't be as good as the others, but when I started to read the book I was impressed on how good the book was. In this book there is a BIG secret that was found and born. My favorite character in this book was Maximum, Nudge( she is the cover of the book #4 ) and Angel. In this book they all have a really big part/role in the story. In this book Maximum was more likely the girl who was incharge of the whole flock( group ). Nudge in the book she was the one that was more bubbly but concentrated on what she was doing. Meanwhile Angel was very bubbly and concentrating with the group but she got off track sometimes to think about .......... well if I would tell you I would basicly give the answer to the secret and the whole story. I think the author wrote this book on adventure, mystery, and about a group of very different teens that treat themselves like family when they are just really good friends. This book is recomended to everyone . It is such a good book I can read the series over and over and over again if I wanted to. If you read this book than I hope you enjoy the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the 4th.( Hint: The fith one ic coming out soon!!! )
This volume was amazing, as usual, but there was one thing that really bothered me, which is why I took off a star from my rating. About a third of the book builds up to a beautiful reunion between Iggy and his parents. I have to confess, I got choked up. It was done SO WELL. I was so happy and sad at the same time. Happy because, well, he's with his family again. Sad because he had to leave the Flock. Then, a little more than one chapter later, Iggy is back with the Flock. He ran away from his parents because they basically wanted to make money off of him (because of his wings). What? Roughly one third of the book in buildup to Iggy's reunion is torn down in TWO PANELS. -_- Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's back with the Flock again, but you could have at least taken more time to bring him back. Or give him a better excuse to run away. (I mean, really, parents trying to make money off their child? Like THAT hasn't been done before...)

Although I enjoyed the story, still some loops that needed to be twirled and completed. Even though Nudge is on the cover, it seemed like it divulged more into Iggy's story which was the previous book. I felt about 1/2 of this part on Iggy should have been addressed on his book cover, and very little touched on Nudge per se. Mainly focused on Max Ride of course and her twin. Ari keeps playing a small part in her life, is it love, jealousy, or revenge? I hope the series will uncover this soon.
Slower than other installments yet somehow too fast at the same time. Important plot points are only touched on, such as Max’s clone and Iggy’s parents, while the rest is filler. The story and art are still lovely, and the reveal that Anne was the person in charge of the company that experimented on the Flock took me by surprise yet again.

I've forgotten most of what happens, tbh, so this was quite a good refresher. Maybe at the end of these graphic novels (9 so far?), I can get back & read the last novel of the series lol
I hate to admit it, but although this book was good and I liked it at the time, it is rather forgettable. It's only been a month and I had to flip back through in order to remember what happened. I must say that the same things that made me pick up the first three books, made me pick up this one and will make me pick up the next one. The art is good. The story is moves quickly and yet still manages to have enough depth to keep my mind engaged. And the characters are quirky without being overdone (so far I could do without Angel and mostly without Gasman and Nudge). I absolutely love Iggy; Max and Fang are fairly awesome too. I would have figured that Fang would have clued in on the Max switch though either because of his relationship with her or because she told him she thought she saw another Max... There is some minor nudity with shower scenes and Max in an isolation chamber, but really all you see is an outline or a backside, nothing major. No cursing that I remember. Not much violence either, although Iggy and Gasman blow some stuff up and Angel definitely uses her power on some people.
Personally, I felt like this was different from the previous three. If felt rushed, and it was missing so much detail that was in the actual book, like;
1) When Sam kisses Max. I know I'm not the only one that wanted to see that. 2) When Ari climbs up the tree during his meltdown. 3) The epic chase through the woods. 4) When Mrs. Griffiths threatens them to not take Iggy/James away again. 5) Instead of just busting out of the teacher's lounge, Max actually gets up on a table and fights for a little bit. 6) Both the boy and the girl in the woods where with the transmitter, not just the girl. 7) When they have to put together a car because they're all missing something. 8) Max is actually in the isolation tank for a while before Jeb gets to here. 9) When the clone Max looks over too see Angel staring up at the vent.

Dear people of goodreads, I could't write anything if u don't let me read this manga book. Please I want to really ×10 want to read this book. Thanks for letting me right, RLS P.s Keep it real RLS
Dang it!! That ending was such a cliffhanger! It was so so good and then I flipped the page and done. Lol ahhh! I love this manga series! It's so action packed, mysterious and fast paced!
Books 4 and 5 of this series were on sale in Scholastic. Since the kids absolutely adore graphic novels and I love manga, I decided to buy them. Going in I hadn't read Books 1-3 and knew nothing about the story, but it was pretty easy to jump right in.
There is a group of kids, who are also science experiments. They're supposed to have some special mission but they don't like the scientists working on them, so they escape. They can all grow wings and they have other special talents. They are a family and stick together.
I really enjoyed this book. I know James Patterson gets a bad rap sometimes, but obviously he knows what he's doing or he wouldn't have millions of dollars. I thought the story was super creative and engaging, and the manga was beautiful. Glad I have book 5, I think I'll need to invest in the rest of the series.
I read this so quickly, everything that happened in this volume is sort of blurred together. I don't really have much to say but I do love the direction this is taking with Angel's attitude. I do have a problem with the potential of Max's body double seemingly headed towards being thrown aside but I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Also, is it just me or do the character's hair grow really quickly? Is that just a thing the artist is doing by accident when switching hairstyles or does it have something to do with the character's rapid growth??
This book was another wonderful tale about Max and the flock! What happens when you are still living with the one person you are not sure you trust as well as going to school... still, when you should be helping the flock move on.
PARENT NOTE: This book does have violence in it... as well as the other books in the series. Also the only really scary images are from the erasers. In some of the books you should be wary of the other experiments gone wrong.
AGE RECOMMENDATION: 12 and up.
VIOLENCE: Yes. Fighting, and definitely some blood drawn.
The group’s moment of peace is quickly ended when the mystery they’re trapped inside widens to include even their safe place. One member of the group leaves. Meanwhile, Max is cracking under the pressure and the voice in her head isn’t helping.
The volume ends with a preview of another one of James Patterson’s young adult novels as a manga. Witch & Wizard And it’s illustrated by one of my favorite manga artists, Svetlana Chmakova~ I LOVE HER WORK~!
This series is based on the James Patterson novel series Maximum Ride.
Maximum Ride by James Patterson Follows the Flock (I.E main characters) as they figure out secrets about the school they are going to and they get betrayed by Anne, the person taking care of the flock.Iggy finds his parents, but soon realizes that being with them wasn’t very good.Lastly, Max gets kidnapped and replaced by a clone and she gets put in a lab to be experimented on.once again I would recommend this manga for ages 12+ as this manga is very interesting and I really enjoy this manga because of the art style and also the way the characters are portrayed.

The story is some backstabbing times like having there foster parent be a secret spy and they all fell for it, when they found out they were heart broken. Cause there first plan was to leave even thought they did't know that she was a spy and the reason they stayed was because they never had a thanksgiving and they wanted to have the first one with her. and then there some action and fighting between them and eventually they leave her even thought she said she did it for love and not for hate.
After Iggy found his mom, Max slowly started to realize that she had feelings for another flock member but still didn't want to admit it. Max then realizes that she has been followed by Ari and a clone of herself. Ari then Kidnaps her and her copycat switches her place. In the very end, Max breaks free of her cell and swooped in, and challenged her copycat. I wonder if the real Max won the fight! I really loved this volume and I'm excited to read the next one!!
Important Note: The rating is for Lee Narae's illustrations ONLY; please read my series review of the original books by James Patterson here if you'd like. Spoiler alert: the books suck. I only read the manga adaptations because I was reading the books at the same time and it's a shame the beauty of the illustrations is wasted on such a shitty series.
I think Maximum Ride Vol.4 is a great book because it has a bit of action and comedy. They should have made the flock stay in the school longer. I chose this book because the first three books were really good. The flock leave Anne then head to horizon. I think people who liked the first three books should read this book.
Book four is not the best book I the series. I did enjoy it but it seems like there is too much retelling of what has happened in the previous books and not enough new stuff to deserve a good rating. There is a decent cliffhanger at the end and the story up to that point is decent but book three is by far much better.
