Meet Paul Hoblin: first-time father, second-rate human. Paul has high expectations for his baby daughter and low expectations for himself. He needs her to be a super spy so she can save the world from any number of real-life threats, and so he doesn’t have to lift a finger to help. He wouldn’t mind getting a full night’s sleep every once in a while either.
Meet Agent E. She may be a baby, but she possesses the mental and physical dexterity of James Bond himself. Her mission: whip her lug of a father into shape by whatever means—high tech gizmos or dirty diapers—the situation requires. Did she choose to accept this mission? Negatory. The mission chose her.
Quick read narrated almost entirely in dialogue, Hueller delivers an entertaining glimpse into parenthood and even a little bit about marriage with an endearing theme of how Agent E, a daughter and super spy, endeavors on her mission to make Paul (Agent E's father) the best parent, nay the best person he can be. Interspersed with adorable photos of the author's actual daughter, I laughed and smiled all throughout this highly relatable novel.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I thought it was so funny, especially the black mask/Star Wars story and the one about the dog eating something he shouldn’t have. I was laughing so hard and remembering the funny things my daughters would do and say when they were little. Loved the book!
