Sixteen year old twins Olivia and Haydon are forced to move during their senior year. Not only are they leaving loved ones behind, but they may as well be living with strangers. While adapting to their new lives, the twins start developing supernatural powers. They soon discover that moving there may not have been a coincidence. The town isn't normal. Strange things happen there and their new found powers seem to be connected to it.
The story is a Young Adult novel told by Olivia and Haydon who are the most important characters. They are twins and their father sends them to Jasper Crane with their uncle, aunt and cousin. Some things happen and they will have to protect each other’s.
The characters are real, like all seventeen years old teenagers they are impulsive. Olivia is like me when I was young; she’s shy and has three real friends, Sam, Matisha and Aaron. She always let other girls being bitches with her; she doesn’t know how to defend herself and doesn’t love that. It was really me when I was young; girls can be awful sometimes and even more when you haven’t got a brother to protect you. Haydon is the sport boy, the one who like girls and they love him back. He is over protective with his sister, she’s his only family.
Some events are predictable and logical, this first book set up the characters and the story. This one is good, there are a lot of characters and they are important in the story. It’s not just Olivia and Haydon; it’s also Aaron, Josh, Ashton, Will and Stephanie.
I like Haydon, Will, Olivia and Aaron, we aren’t seeing Will enough for me but I like him. I like the relation between Haydon and Olivia, they have a real bond and they love and protect each’s others. The attraction between Olivia and Aaron is very real and I love them together. They are best friends forever. The relation between Haydon and Aaron is tense but they will do everything to protect Olivia. I have a trust problem with two people, one girl and one boy, since the beginning. Some things are weird and I can’t wait to read the second book. I just want to know why ?How ? and Who ?
So much questions without answers…
I like the world of Jasper Crane with its knights, and curse. The atmosphere is a little creepy sometimes and I love that. And the end bring a lot of questions !!!!
Jodie has written a great book with interesting characters, some that you’ll love, others than you’ll want to hit badly and others you’ll simply hate or want to hug. The style is simple and fluid, he is very fast read and it’s considerable.
I like the part before the end because it’s an important one and all the characters are together for a reason. Jodie, it rocks! So have faith in you and don’t make me wait to long for the next book.
As I already said it I am more than ready for book two.
If you like witches, wolf, knight and curse you must read this book because it’s awesome and you’ll enjoy it.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review and this is it.
I enjoyed reading Bound by JM Chalker. The story told of fraternal twins, Olivia and Haydon who were forced to live with their relatives for a year and start their senior year in a new school. Then they found they had supernatural powers and that there were others like them in the town named Jasper Crane.
I’ll stop there to avoid giving away the plot but let me just say that JM Chalker created several well-defined fresh characters who are worthy of having their own stories each. You’ll find magic, action, drama and romance entwined with these lovely characters.
Bound, book one of Jasper Crane series had definitely began an exciting new series readers will want to follow.
This book had me very intrigued. The author does a great job of building the characters of twins Olivia and Haydon. I enjoyed the birthday party that started the book off with a bang.
I was a little sad that they had to move after getting to know the characters in their hometown. It was worse with Olivia just getting together with her new boyfriend.
The town of Jasper Crane is strange, and as the story unfolds, it's with good reason. I liked the dynamic the twins had with their long lost family. It kept things interesting.
I also enjoyed how the author introduced all of the main characters as she built the storyline. There were some really surprising twists that I wasn't expecting. The plot was original and this first book set up the book for future one's in the series, yet was awesome all on it's own.
Now that I was left with such a cliffhanger, I can't wait until the author puts out a sequel!!! This book gets four glittery stars for being a great start to an intriguing series!

Bound by JM Chalker 5 stars This review may contain spoilers This book was given to me for my honest review.
This is a paranormal story and I would think the first in the series. The characters in this book are hard not to fall in love with. Haydon and Olivia are twins. Hayden is the high school jock every one wants to be, or be with. Olivia is the quiet one. Does good in school and has a few good friends. Her best Friend is Arron. Arron whats to be more than friends and Olivia believes this is a great idea. Little does any one know daddy who never comes around has been keeping tabs on them. Daddy doesn't like the way they have been behaving so he moves them to there aunt and uncles the next day. Now there only mission is to get back home to the life they know. Strange things are happening to both Haydon and Olivia. With the strange things and the curse everyone is talking about there world is turning upside down.
This was an amazing book. I loved the characters. The story is so good you won't be able to put it down. I was in the story from the beginning to the end, and loved every moment till the end. Now I can't wait for more. This is an amazing author and amazing story
I'm not the best at writing reviews, but I promised to give one after reading, so here it goes:
This was a fun book. The character tells the story of twins: Haydon and Olivia. Seventeen, Australian, and moved to the new school of Jasper Crane just as things were starting to get good for them (won't tell because of spoilers). From there, it goes from a slice of teenage life, to paranormal twists and turns that kept me curious until the end.
And of course the end. This is a cliffhanger book. It is a frustrating cliffhanger in that it leaves you wanting more, for sure.
Overall, if you're a fan of teen drama meets paranormal, you'll enjoy this book! Especially if you're big into the witches scene. ;) And that's the only baby spoiler I'm giving.
I was given Bound as an ARC for my review. Can't wait for book 2 want to know what happens with Aaron, book 1 very well written didn't want to put down. found that the characters worked really well together. wouldn't mind having the powers that Olivia's brother haydon has mind reading! huge thanks to JM Chalker for the opportunity to review this book ♡
Bound is book #1 in the Jasper Crane Series and the first book I have read by this author, I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
This book is a definite slow starter, it dawdles along at a snail’s pace and is a little stilted and awkward. I really started to panic that this would be one of ‘Those’ books, but by about chapter three the author finds her feet and seems to get more comfortable with the characters and the pace of the book and that’s where this book starts to get interesting.
I’m honestly not entirely sure what exactly is going on with this book but I’m still completely intrigued. In a nutshell there are magical powers, a curse, some demons and woods that are off limits.
I would say that I am not going to give away any spoilers but I’m still not sure I completely understand the plot so I doubt I could give enough away to spoil it lol.
Regardless of how confused I may be I still really got into this book!!!
Olivia is nice girl she seems much younger than her supposed 17 years but absolutely harmless and a genuine sweetheart.
Haydon aka the evil twin is actually not that evil lol, he starts off as an egotistical, self absorbed idiot but then he changes and I really started to like him. I get the impression that he will be the hero of the book and the glue that holds the group together.
Now like I said the plot is a little overwhelming but still really interesting, but you really do need to pay attention, this is not a book you can dip in and out of because you will end up rereading so that all of the twists and turns make sense.
As the first book in this series it poses a lot of questions but answers hardly any off them. Why are they getting powers? Why if only one person from each family gets powers have Olivia, Haydon and Stephanie all got them? Where does Aaron come into this??
This book ends on a cliffhanger and annoyingly stops right when it was really getting good!!! I have absolutely no idea when the next book in the series is coming out but I absolutely will need to read it.
My biggest piece of advice for anyone thinking of reading this book is persevere!! It’s a slow starter but it will have you hooked by the end!!
Bound is the first book in the Jasper Crane series written by JM Chalker. The second book, Hidden, arrives later this year. I was given a copy of this book for a review.
I was not disappointed that I took the chance to read this book. I found it to be a very good and fun read with many twists and turns.
The chunk of the book takes place after the 17th birthdays of both Haydon and Olivia. This is also the beginning of their journey. The first to notice anything is Olivia. It is also the night before they are whisked away to Jasper Crane. Why they are sent there? The twins do not know.
Not long before weird things begin to happen. To not only the twins but people they know as well. Is the curse the center of all the weirdness going on around them. Who knows? But Haydon thinks it is up to him and Josh to find out.
But even Stephanie, who thought the twins would cramp her style, begins to realize that she needs her cousins to help figure things out. She reconciles with them, but is it in time.
Aaron, on his way to see Olivia in Jasper Crane, is attacked. But what happens to him…
Bound is a thrill a minute ride. I could not put the book down.
If you are into YA Paranormal books, then this is the book for you. I am really anxious to pick up Hidden later this year. I want to find out what happens to Haydon, Olivia, Aaron, Stephanie, Josh, and Will. I, also, want to know why Olivia’s father was dressed in a knight’s armor…
I loved this story. Twins Hayden and Olivia are told by their absent father that they have to move in with an aunt and uncle the night before the first day of their senior yr. After getting to the island they are told about a curse on the descendants of some knights. Then they to start developing powers. The writing to this is great and I was immediately drawn in by the characters. Olivia is a somewhat shy booknerd while Hayden is the popular jock that decides to change himself with the new start. They live with their cousin Stephanie who is the normal queen bee type. Hayden befriends Josh who is completely unlike anyone he has hung out with before (think Howard from The Big Bang Theory). Olivia remains in contact wity her friends including her boyfriend Aaron but also makes friends with Ashton and Lilly. But when some unexpected others start getting powers and weird things start happening they learn that there is more to this curse then they thought. Although we find out some of what this means mostly this book is for setting up the characters and what is to come.
I was given an ecopy by the author in exchange for a honest review.
This is a paranormal, young adult story about 18 year old twins who inexplicably develop supernatural powers and their journey of learning more about their powers as well as how to control them. Although the story is for young adults, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am far from young haha. It is an easy, well-written read which has you captivated from the first chapter. Warning, this is a page turner and may result in serious sleep deprivation but it's well worth it.
I won't even start on the cliff-hanger. Mean, mean author!! But I will for sure be grabbing a copy of the next book.
I can seriously see this book as a movie, well we can only hope.
The story revolves around twins Haydon and Olivia Van Kirt. After living relatively unsupervised, their father sends them to live with their aunt. In the small island town of Jasper Crane, the twins find that superstition is abundant amongst the residents. Generations old legends lead to fear when kids start disappearing. Before long the twins find themselves deep on the middle of the mystical lore.
Bound is a YA paranormal book. It has an interesting plot line. I found at times the storyline tended to run fast. I would have liked a bit slower build to the story line. That being said, I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next installment.
Great start for this debut author! I had a little trouble keeping up with all the different characters at first because I felt there were so many side characters that we could have done without but once the main characters made more of an appearance I knew the players.I loved Olivia right away and her circle of friends, Haydon took a little more time for me. them moving moved faster for me than I would have liked but I see why it was done that way as the story progressed. J.M 's take on the paranormal is just what PN is all about! I can't wait for the next!
A first book by a brand new author. The story was brilliant, a very good start to what is going to be a very good series. Good exciting characters & a good solid story. The reason for 4 stars is I found there was a lot of using the same word a few times in the same few lines, or it could be me been picky. Oh the whole a very interesting YA book, I really did enjoy the story & can't wait for the next one.
Gripping young adult book. Chalker's writing style is very descriptive. Many twists and turns that keep you reading. There were characters that you love and those that you love to hate. This is a great story that unravels from several points of view and leaves you wondering about the next book. I will definitely read the following books that come in this series and recommend to my friends.
For a first novel, Bound was fantastic. It had everything I like in a paranormal book. It was well written, had a great story arc, amazing characters and a setting that makes you wish you were there. I want to go to Jasper Crane High! I can't wait to read more from what looks like an amazing series. Well done, Jodie
The twins , Hayden and Olivia get quite a shock when their absentee dad shows up on their 17th birthday. They can't be trusted because of bad grades, fighting, skipping school, drinking, and people sneaking in the house at all hours. They will be moving in with his sister, and aunt they don't remember ever meeting. They are both drawn to a wooded area across the lake outside of their aunts house. Their uncle says its off limits because kids went in there and never came out. A girl at their new school told them about a centuries old curse that was put on the town. Weird things start to happen rather quickly. This a well written book. It is pretty fast paced and probably more for YA audience. I like that they each have a different talent and they are learning together. I'm glad Olivia is finally starting to get a backbone. I like that Hayden's character is the protector. This is a great group of characters, most are likeable. I like that the main characters aren't all perfectly likeable, it's nice to have a necessary character that you'd just like to kick. This is a great book, but be ready for book 2, because this ends in a cliffhanger.

Seventeen-year-old twins Olivia and Hayden are forced to start over, in a new school and a new hometown. By a family, that is are strangers. They are forced to start over in a town called Jasper Crane, which holds it's own mystical secrets. And it's anything but welcoming! Olivia and Hayden soon find out, the world isn't as it may seem. As supernatural powers start making themselves present.
What a way to start a book! With a bang, that's how! A fantastic beach scene that introduces you to the brilliant characters you will soon fall in love with. And a blossoming romance between Olivia and Aron which I just adored. But hold that thought as there is an emotional scene where your heart is going to feel like it's being torn out! And leave you a blubbering mess.
This is a story you will quickly get hooked on and fall in love with, Jodie has a fabulous imagination and way of writing. Everything is very well developed. It's a full dynamic story with characters that you can connect with from the start. I enjoyed how Jodie introduced new characters through the book, and each one of these I adored immediately.
Hayden is your typical jock type character. Well, this is the facade he likes everyone to see. Deep down he is loyal and very protective; You will just fall in love with him straight away. I can not wait to see where his character goes in book two.
Olivia, I just connected with right from page one. She is fun and loveable who takes everything in her stride.
This is I must admit what I love from a book; I have a had a lot of read to reviews over the last few months, but this has got what I am always looking for! Jodie gives you Mystical, Magical; Full of action, a lovely heart-melting romance and to top it all it;s just a brilliant story line.
Five out of Five stars for me, and I can not wait for Book two!

Olivia and Haydon are twins but they couldn't be more different. One is an extrovert and in with the popular crowd and the other is an introvert content to have a much smaller but meaningful group of friends.
I was really sad to see them move to Jasper Crane as I liked the dynamic between Olivia and her friends.
Haydon chooses to keep to himself in the new school but Olivia seems to once again become the prime target for bullying. The ringleader this time around, is their cousin Stephanie who is determined to get rid of them.
Unusual things start to happen, dreams, hearing voices, an appearing and disappearing boy and new found abilities such as shape-shifting and being able to wield fire. The history behind the town of Jasper Crane is slowly revealed and is gradually paced throughout the book which I really like.
Another thing that stood out was that while there is a supernatural element to this book, they also had normal teenage issues which lightened the story and gave it a more realistic feel.
The timeline was a little bit hard to follow at times, however, when the characters are endearing and the storyline keeps you engaged trying to figure everything out, this was a just a small passing thought.
I will definitely continue reading this series.
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Always a little nervous going into a new series, but this book is well worth it. While the story of teens developing supernatural powers (in this case twins Olivia and Haydon) is well trodden, the central mystery here is engrossing enough to still feel fresh. But really it's the author's characters that make this a worthwhile read. I thought Olivia was believable as the girl just trying to fight off the crazy around her, and find a place in her new environment. With Haydon, however, I thought the author could have perhaps been a little more adventurous in bringing out his darker side - at times he's almost too nice. I would have expected there to be a little more conflict between his powers and his more egocentric tendencies. But I throughly enjoyed my time with both characters - and I'm excited to see where this series will go.
Ok, so I was given this book by the author for free in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say that I did not expect it to end the way it did. Now I have to wait for book 2,Hidden, to come out to find out what happens next.
Obviously this means the book ends with a cliffhanger. I truly loved it though, because I have all these ideas in my head guessing what will happen next. I love the story line and I can't wait. If you don't like cliffhangers wait for the second book to come out so you are not left waiting and wanting to know what happens next.
I like how the characters are "bound" to each other in a witchy kind of way. It's cool learning about who has what powers and watching them use their powers. I like the mystery behind the missing people and I'm curious as to what is truly happening.

This is why I LOVE trying new authors!!! This book was great. Although it does start off a little slow at the beginning I'm so glad I kept reading. Had me not wanting to set it down but mommy duties called and of course it took me longer to finish than I wanted.
Twins Olivia and Haydon are forced to move in with their aunt and uncle right before their senior year. And little do they know that a whole lot more is about to change for them. Strange things are starting to happen. Not to just them but to others around them.
This book does end in a cliffhanger which has left me with some questions that I can't wait to find the answers to. I will most definitely be reading the next book.
What an interesting concept!! Brilliantly plotted and ripe with details. This will lead you on an adventure wondering what is waiting upon the next page♡ Read some very unexpected events! This author will keep you on your toes! If you love stories about magical happenings and teens trying to save the day, look no further! Ms. Chalker's Jasper Crane series promises to provide hours of entertainment and laugh out loud moments ♡♡♡♡
