Rate this book
USA TODAY 'Top Book To Buy'
The Purpose Factor is the clearest, most actionable process ever developed for discovering purpose--period.

YOU WANT CLARITY. You are tired of wondering, "What's next?" You want to know if you are making the right decision. You are ready for fewer distractions, more direction, and a clear idea of where you want to go.

AND YOU WANT IT NOW. You would take the initiative, if you only knew what steps to take. You don't want life to happen to you. You are ready for life to start happening because of you.

PURPOSE IS THE FACTOR. In The Purpose Factor , you will discover the most practical and effective process ever developed for finding and living out your purpose. Purpose is the single difference between simply existing and really living. It is what separates the successful from the standard, divides the top earners from the just-get-byers, and determines whether a company will grow and thrive or just barely survive. Your purpose will unlock the secret to living a meaningful life, building a successful career, and making a difference in the world. Knowing your purpose will determine how well you do and how far you go.

I hate that this is my first review of the year and I’m going to have to remember how crappy of a book this was when I looked at my yearly review at the end of the year, but here we are.

TLDR: Your purpose is to help people. Anything you are doing in your day to day that does not contribute to finding out who you are meant to help, and then helping them, is not allowed. You will not be fulfilled if you do not spend your life helping people.

Not to sound selfish but this did not resinate with me at all. I was expecting this to be much more internal focused / finding out what makes you happy etc etc. This felt unrealistic in the fact that not everyone’s life purpose is to help others on such a large scale as this book portrays.

This was almost a DNF several times, and if I’m being honest the last several chapters were barely finished.

After reading and listening to so many personal development books and attending numerous seminars throughout my life I have found that without finding my true purpose in life I had a tendency to wander. Even with a very fulfilling and financially successful career I still found something missing. After studying the purpose factor it’s all clear now. I recommend this book not only to those who consider themselves accomplish individuals but also to those who feel like maybe there’s something more in life than what they currently have.

Purpose leads to passion, passion delivers fulfillment, fulfillment exposes love, magnifies purpose!

I am excited about putting the techniques in this book to work in my life. This book is about getting unstuck by uncovering my individual purpose and breaking through the myths and lies I was taught about myself by our friends, family, and teaching growing up. It helped me unlock my natural advantage—what I can do well naturally without a lot of effort. I think of the natural advantage as buried treasure in a world that sends us to school to improve what we’re bad at. The natural advantage is what I’m good at and what feeds my individual purposes. While the first part of this book is about getting the mind right, the second part of the book shares implementation strategies. One such strategy is to work in 7-month intervals. I had never thought to do this before, and the reasoning is sound. On average, 7 months equals 1% of a person’s productive life—a motivator that time is limited! And because 7 months is less than a year, it’s a more human-scale timeline to accomplish goals. With limited time, I need to develop habits that help me work productively. This book shares how to abandon unhelpful habits and pick up productive habits around faith, family, finance, health, and work. Finally, this book comes with a journal for discovering my purpose and its building blocks: natural advantage, goals, and new habits. While reading this book, I felt like I was getting a “stimulus package” for my career. Given all the uncertainty happening in the world today, I’m glad I moved this book to the top of my reading list.

I had high hopes for this book and although some aspects are commendable, it fails to deliver on many levels. For example, having identified the four elements of your Purpose Factor, there is no direction as to what the five categories within each element suggest for you ... if your Natural Advantage is an Overseer, what does this mean? If your Pull Passion is a Problem Solver, what sorts of thing does this mean you will be leaning towards? Also, I was confused by apparent contradiction bin determining one's primary Origin Story - it's suggested this is come from a time before you turn 20, and yet many of the examples given (e.g. divorce, obesity) are surely from a much later stage in life. I suspect this is a failing from the authors having written this book when they are still so young. Finally, having determined your Purpose Factor (i.e. put yourself into four boxes), there are pages of information about beliefs and goals that seems superficial (I suspect because these are huge topics in and of themselves) and they are glossed over somewhat even though they are essential to applying your Factor - there is little direction on how to use this section of the book. Overall, having a strategy to determine one's purpose in life is wonderful - it's an excellent concept - but for me this book failed to deliver anything of significant use.

Insightful and pragmatic Purpose book

From cover to cover, The Purpose Factor provides great insighs with excellent examples and questions for the reader to consider to apply the Purpose Factor process to their lives.

This brillantly written book takes the reader on journey from whom am I, how do I live that, and what difference do want to make in the lives of others.

As the authors say, your is purpose is the best of who and what you are.

This is a book I will re-read to deepen my underanding and redo the excersises to hone for living my purpose.

The authors of The Purpose Factor were completely vulnerable about their own journeys to finding their purpose. They are not only relatable, but they are proof that getting clarity to your purpose matters! I've never read something that gives such clear and concise direction to finding my purpose! This book is life changing and is very well written!

Gave me a number of ideas to consider on how I want my life to look and the direction it’s going. That in itself was worth the read. The fact that it was entertaining and approachable at the same time was an added bonus!

A very good book for anyone who wants to introspect on their life's purpose. Every view we study in any book is a view....how we take it, is what really matters.....so this book provides its view, which is for sure valid and good to ponder upon.....

This book was bunk. The concepts and advice were nothing but false information. Rather than bringing others up, it was quite negative.
