The parts of this book that I liked were learning about body processes. I know what gluconeogenesis is, I understand concepts pertaining to hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia, I understand a lot more about fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, and I learned things about eating disorders and weight problems.

However, the book was boring.

I can't think of anyone who wants to read fifteen minutes' worth of "This study indicates this, that study indicates that, and since those studies were both flawed in design, we have no conclusive evidence one way or another that [insert substance/nutrient/mineral here] is an effective ergogenic aid." BORING.

And then it would do stupid things like recommend orange juice instead of an orange when it is not clear that the person consuming it would be working out. That's just dumb! Unless you are about to work out, you need the fiber in the orange fruit to counter all the natural sugar inside it. If you don't, then you'll still be hungry after having eaten a TON of sugar... Can someone say "weight gain," please?

I learned a ton, but it was a boring read and I'm happy my class is over.
