Accountant by day, author by night Donna Kaye has a passion for storytelling. Donna credits her love of reading to her fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Wrich. A prolific reader, her eclectic taste in reading means her bookshelves are filled with everything from sweet romance to erotica.

When not at the keyboard or reading, you can find her with loved ones on a road trip, at the movies, at a playhouse enjoying a live theater production, or at a restaurant enjoying great food with family or friends. The tales she spins are filled with love, laughter and the occasional dead body. She’d love to hear from you!

Donna Kaye has written a book about a sensitive subject that is full of compassion and grace. I was most impressed with her writing that never pities or shames the characters. Her compassion shows through, but in a respectful manner.

Samantha suffers from PTSD after serving her country. Ren sees himself in her and wants to help her out. There is a lot of baggage that comes from war and they both have pasts to deal with. When Ren has his past coming to haunt him, can he and Samantha face it together and survive? Or will this be the final trigger for both of them?

I always enjoy Donna Kaye's books and this one does not disappoint. If you like characters with depth and a story that has meaning and purpose beyond the fun, you have found the right book. Even though this is a part of the Aspen Gold Series, Finding Hope stands alone and can be read without the series....but why? I'd say when you finish this, go back and catch up on all the Aspen Gold fun.

Samantha suffers from PTSD and is struggling to fit back into the civilian world. Ren recognizes her challenges and helps her rise to meet them. Finding Hope has hidden depths rooted in Ren's past. No spoilers here, because I enjoyed the surprise. Happy reading.

Starting over is hard. When you add the baggage of war, injury and loss the time to heal seems out of reach and exhausting . In this story of returning warriors both Samantha and Ren are struggling to find their way, but shared experiences help heal the past. New friends, a place to call home and a lost child bring them Hope.

Finding Hope by Donna Kaye was both hard to read and enlightening. Dealing with PTSD and the veterans who have it is a sensitive topic. But Donna Kaye did it extremely well.
The story of Samantha and Ren, both battle injured discharged veterans that are dealing with their injures in their own ways but come together to help each other with the healing process in ways they never expected. This is a story about pushing ahead through trials that could destroy you and come out, not like you were before, but what is best right now. I don’t think that veterans are acknowledged enough and receive the help that they need when they are injured either physically or mentally when they are released and this book deals with that subject. Thank you, Donna Kaye, for writing this book.

This book really blew me away! Sam is struggling with PTS to the point where she has issues sleeping indoors, amongst other things. Ren, being a veteran of the war in Afghanistan himself, recognized Sam as a fellow veteran and does everything he can to help her.

These two were truly meant for each other. They understand each other - both having a military background - and the chemistry between them works so perfectly well!

The mystery portion of the book was, IMHO, well done. I do wish that we would have gotten more insight into Murphy and how he knew what to do to help Samantha. Was it just canine instinct, or did part of his training include the support? I'd have also liked a follow-up with Samantha's therapist, where the gap would be closed. I think there were some loose ends that could have been tied up better there.

Good story

I liked the challenges the characters faced. As veterans they experienced ptsd. The author brought a smart dog into the story which added more interest.
