It’s up to Bradley, Brian, Lucy, and Nate to track down his owner and figure out what is wrong with poor little Douglas.

Great Read
This was an enjoyable read. This is the second book in the Calendar Mysteries series. In this book, it is Valentine’s Day, annd Bradley is handing out Valentine’s Day cards to his classmates. When he stumbles upon one card that has no name on it, he opens the card that tells the class to go to the closet. In the closet, there is a bunny. The class wonders who is the mysterious friend who left the bunny. The bunny begins to fall very sick, so it is up to Bradley, Brian, Nate, annd Lucy to find out before it’s too late. I find it interesting how each month has its unique word. For example, February is for Friend, hence the title of the story is February Friend. Although it is a middle-grade story, I thought it was really cute. I thought the story was short and fun. I thought the characters were sweet and funny. I felt bad for the bunny. I wish it did not have to starve itself because of loneliness. I am glad that they were able to reunite the bunny with its owner. I thought the ending was sweet. I will definitely continue to read this series. I can’t wait to read Book 3. Overall, a great read.

This is the second book in the Calendar Mysteries series, a follow-on to the A to Z Mysteries by the same author. This series caters to a slightly younger audience and our girls really enjoy them. The mysteries are more benign and the stories are fairly short. They are good books for beginning readers who are starting to read chapter books. Our girls loved that this book highlighted a class pet.

I think this is a good book for second and third graders. I like how the main characters are pretty independent of their parents, though the parents still have a presence in the story.

Meh! Looking for a book to do a literature circle with some students in my second grade class. I chose this one since it had a Valentine theme and it's the end of January. Not a lot of meat and who leaves a rabbit hidden in a closet to try to find a new owner for a beloved pet?!? That being said, my second graders will enjoy the mystery and doing their reading work for the next several weeks.

I used this as a quick read aloud for the beginning part of February to my first and second grade class. It was an easy story for the kids to follow and gather clues to to the mysteries. As beginning readers, some kids did well using the clues given in the story to make inferences about what was going to happen, who Douglas's owner was, and how the problem at the end was solved. I had one first grader who was spot on with the end result! This book is simple, easy, and kid-friendly for primary grades. The four star rating is based on my students' opinions and for the appropriate-content for the target age group for this book.

I read the original A-Z Mystery stories when I was a little kid and greatly enjoyed them, I had only ever gotten to the Letter T, so I figured this year I would re-read and actually complete the series all this time later, and I was delighted to learn that Ron Roy has continued on the Green Lawn Mysteries and characters, and gone on with Calendar Mysteries and the A-Z Super Mysteries, which I will get to reading later on.
This series of 12 books focuses on the younger relatives of the Main Characters of the original series, and it's charming and fun to see the adventures they all get up to in this fun additional series.

Eleanor and Momma thought this one wasn’t as interesting. It was kind of a weird mystery, because why didn’t he just give the rabbit to the classroom, and why keep it a secret? This book was not as good as others. Eleanor thought it would be about a secret crush because of the boy opening the valentine on the front. I also thought it would be about a secret Valentine. That would have made a lot more sense. When my seven-year-old is calling you out for potholes you need to fix some things. To be fair my seven-year-old is also reading at a fourth grade level, but still.

During class for Valentine's Day, the class receives a secret Valentine. The Valentine tells them to look in the closet. When they open the closet they find a rabbit in a cage, including some pictures and a letter. Bradley and Brian volunteer to take the rabbit home for the weekend. They notice the rabbit isn't eating or drinking, so they take the rabbit to a vet. The vet says the rabbit is lonely. Bradley, Brian, Nate, and Lucy take it upon themselves to find the owner. Will they find him in time to save Douglas?

An easy read that would be great for 2-3 graders. This time Brian, Bradley and friends find a bunny in the closet of their classroom. Everyone is excited at the idea of having a class pet, but they soon become worried when the bunny becomes ill. Now the gang must solve the mystery of who left the bunny before it's too late!

This is a really good book. I enjoyed reading it. There are illustrations on almost every page. It is a good book for beginner readers to read. This book is about a valentines party at Nate, Brian, Bradley, and Lucys school. And they get a special surprise when they open the closet door to there classroom. Get the book to find out what happens next.

December 30, 2024I stumbled across this sequel series and I really want to get out of it what I always got from the original A-to-Zs as a child but I have to say, at least in this one, it is not so much a mystery as it is a series of events unfolding, and the magic was not there... though I am an adult with a job, so, you know, make of that what you will.

The second volume in the Calendar Mysteries series is the sweet story of a sad bunny that is left in the kids' classroom at school. They are in a rush to find the owner of the bunny as it is depressed and refusing to eat. They use a few clues to find the owner and a resolution that works for everyone.

I love these mysteries. They’re so creative and fun. In this one the kids look for the missing owner of a rabbit. Then they stumble onto another related problem. And I love their creative solution. Good stuff.

February friend was about a rabbit that got left in a first grade classroom. They were trying to figure out who was the was the rabbits owner? And why was the rabbit sick? My favorite part was when the rabbit finds its owner.
