Vexed

Rate this book
The biggest problem women face in relationships is knowing when to hold on and when to let go. In some cases, there's nothing left to hold on to. VEXED explores the lives of three women in three different stereotypical relationships. The loser, the abuser, and the baller. How much is enough to make a woman finally see the light and recognize that she is worthy of so much more? Will it be Alisha, Jennifer, or Trustine that will walk away? What would you do? Would you leave or would you stay?

To disclaim from the beginning, I have not read this book. I do not intend to ever read this book, and I will tell you why below. On the off-chance that this book is actually well edited, and not wanting to necessarily bring down the rating if so, I have rated this book 3 stars. Given the state of the the "authoress's" (she calls HERSELF an authoress, mind you) bio (cut/pasted below) which I generously copied, edited and sent to her (she thinks hers is just fine, judge for yourself below), I know I would never, ever read an actual book she writes. If she cannot even properly compose a 3 paragraph bio, why in the world should someone actually pay money for an entire book?

I am very interested in the publisher, La Femme Fatale*, support them and wish them well, but I DO hope that they take good care to hire enough good editors to fix some of the crap that's being thrown out there in the name of "urban lit".

Here is the self-written bio of "the authoress":

Author Lesa Jones was born January 16, 1981 in Jackson Mississippi, but raised Milwaukee, WI. Lesa has always loved reading and write been writing ever since she was a little girl. You could have always found Lesa with a journal/notebook in her hands.

Lesa Jones wonderful mom to her two little girls. Growing up she has seen second hand what it was like to live in a abused home and also hiding from someone she looked up to as her second dad. Living in the projects she’s learn the meaning to what hustling really meant as her mom struggled to take care of her and her two siblings. Taking her reading and writing in order to escape her home life Lesa learned to take herself into another world that only she knew of. Lesa wrote everyday in her journal from day in to day out. She felt that was the only way she could live was through her characters.

As a writer Lesa took bits and pieces of what she knew and spilled out pain and frustration. With now signing with La Femme Fatale Publishing with her book “Vexed” Lesa takes you on a bumpy ride with three different women living three different lives, but they have one thing in common. She let’s you know that no matter who you are this could happen to any woman.

Also being a mom to a ill child living in children’s hospitals on and off for eight years with her oldest daughter. Lesa has always stayed a strong woman. Showing her girls that no matter what, you need to shoot for your dreams and go for it. Using her emotions and spilling it out on paper just for her readers to read. Lesa will have them feeling that they are there with her characters.

A wonderful mom with 2 wonderful little girls Nesa and Nellie.

Lesa working on making her name known in the writing world. She has more to come. Remember Lesa Jones Thanks and enjoy.

Just DAMN. You know?

EDITED 9/6/11: OK, on the off chance I was being unfair, I did read the free sample. Yeah....I was not wrong. DAMN. Completely illiterate, and I wouldn't even give this book ONE star.

*La Femme Fatale: Please do not let your authors write their own bios if this is how they write. Ask them to run it by ya'll first.

Vexed by Lesa Jones is the story of three women who suffer through abusive and painful relationships. The Baller: Trustine is a ride or die chick who is willing to do anything and everything for her man. But when a deal goes wrong, she's left wondering if he is willing to ride or die for her. The abuser: Jennifer lives a lonely, depressed life at the hands of her husband. She fights to find the courage to leave but when she decides to go...will it be too late? The Loser: Alisha works full time only to provide a life for her no good, live in boyfriend. Will she finally kick him to the curb or will she settle for less? Find out what has these women VEXED!
Lesa Jones weaves a tale of abuse, tragedy and new beginnings.I gave this book 5 stars. Although there were a few grammatical errors, they did not take away from the plot or story line.I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast paced read with lots of drama!

I flopped between 3 and 4. It's closer to a 4 than a 3 since there are no half stars. It's a good read, fast. Took about 5 hours to read and there is drama all the way starting on the 1st page.

Out of the 3 ladies (Alisha, Jennifer and Trustine) I would have to say Jennifer should have threw her cards of life back and ask the dealers of fate to give her a fresh hand.

All the ladies suffered greatly and I admit I kept asking my Kindle "dang girl, when is enough, enough? When he kills your butt?".

Alisha had the most going for her and at first I thought, yes, she is going to get out...but, well you'll have to read the story ;).

The story is about physical, mental and emotional abuse. It contains stories of rape, murder, betrayal, male/male and female/female sex scenes. There are some editing issues but they don't take away from the story so much that you can't enjoy the book.

I will write a formal review tomorrow. I am blown away with the writing in this book. Lesa definitely has talent. Vexed is well written, with minor editing issues, the plot kept me engaged and the Characters were all entertaining. To be able to hold down 3 good stories in a consistent manner is no small feat. It was a rollercoaster of excitement and emotions, as I said earlier, from the Prologue I was hooked. LOVED it and am very impressed.

Good book Alisha, Jennifer and Trustine takes you on a bumpy ride through their life as they struggle to regain control of their lifes in their abused relationship. I enjoyed writing this book as I felt every character and became them. Times I will cry times I will smile times I will laugh. These women may not be you, but they can relate to someone that you know or know of.

I'm not gonna say I loved this book, but it definitely was a good read. There was a lot of drama in the book that kept me trying to figure out what was gonna happen next. What I hated was the ending of the book, it could have ended better, but I'm definitly looking forward to see what else Lesa have to bring to the table.

When you have to deal with physical, mental and emotional abuse how long before you become a scorned woman. It was a great book kept me interested however my personal time did not allow me to complete it sooner.

Plenty of editing issues & lacked a bit of development. This collection had so much more potential. The underlying stories were alright. With some work on editing & more time invest edit could be better. If I was able to give half a star it would have been 3.5 stars. I hope that the author grows in her craft & is really edited the next time around,
