I think Serizawa gets physically beaten up so much as a kind of catharsis for the reader at this point. He’s an even bigger trash fire this volume.

That said, it’s not like the people he’s getting together with are often that much better, it’s just that he’s worse. I do appreciate him getting called out on his nonsense in the first chapter - it’s very true that half the time he’s more interested in making himself feel better than making amends.

Then the rest of the volume is the usual parade of misery. It was not as tolerable as the previous volumes - Serizawa screws up a lot and he’s also matched with some awful people. His real problem is that he is, and let’s be clear that his circumstances have helped form this as well, focused inward and not great at understanding others.

I don’t feel like we’re in for any less of a rough ride going forward, but with two volumes go to, I’ll see it through. I wish he’d clean up that damn apartment though.

I enjoyed this volume. The story, graphics and characters continue to be good. I guess the only downside is not enough flashbacks to the present to see how he processes the memory of each girl in relation to the situation at the beginning of the story.

2.5 stars.

At this point the story is just dragging. I don’t like any of the girls Serizawa is dealing with. They all make him look like the bad guy when he really isn’t doing anything wrong minus the bad temper. Let’s just get on with it and find out which girl saved him after his accident.

This volume begins a new story whose finish I will not see, because this is my last volume. The story may turn out to be wonderful, but the beginning was not. Hence, I only give this volume 3 stars.
