Where You'll Find Him

Rate this book
During Pride week, Wolfe learns the board is threatening to shut down the YBR community center. He won't let that happen, not while he's the director and responsible for everyone there. They tell him he's just a kid, but Wolfe needs to prove to everyone, especially the rich family he left behind, that he's strong enough to do the job, even after the assault he suffered back home.

Smitten by the young man with the beautiful gray eyes standing at a booth on Pride Community Day, Gaspard decides to take a risk for the first time in his life. Freshly divorced and father to two grown children, Gaspard is feeling a little lost in the dating world. Until Wolfe smiles at him.

Though twenty-four years separate them, Wolfe and Gaspard fall for each other in a way neither is prepared for. As relationships unravel around them and the pressure increases, Gaspard resists his passion for a man young enough to be his son. But how long can he keep his heart caged in?

I think I've written and changed my bio on here a hundred times in the last decade. See, that's why I don't have tattoos!

I've been a GR for over ten years and I still use it daily to keep up with my reading and to learn about books, old and new ones, but more importantly, because as I grow older and hopefully wiser, I realize that readers are my favorite type of people. They seem to be a little more empathetic and open-minded, and generally more cultivated.

If you look at my shelves, you'll see that I used to read about 70 books a year but in the last years, I've grown more selective and take my time with my lovers, ahem, books.

Yes, I am also a LGBTQ writer and Francophone Montrealer.

I cherish my readers, and want to take this space here to thank you all personally for reading and reviewing my books. You make reality tolerable like a good class of wine.

May your life be blessed.

While I enjoyed this book, mostly, I didnt love it like I have loved other Mel Bossa books.
Split & In His Secret Life are 2 of the best books I have ever read. And have re-read often.

Mel Bossa does have a way with words that will cut you right to the quick, but, unfortunately I didn't get it with this book.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for a copy of the ARC Ms Bossa.

And just cause I need to pimp her a little more I CANT FREAKING WAIT FOR THIS BOOK

Age difference: 25 years, I approve.
This book was an interesting study of relationships: lovers, friends, parents, daughter-son. It's about more than just the MCs. Some may not like that. Some interesting time jumps that I felt conveniently solved certain issues off page. I also felt like I was watching a show. The story feels like a series of vignettes like parts of a TV episode or movie.

Ps. The epilogue threw me off.

This May December romance is being released by JMS Books on May 23rd. I made a lot of changes in this second edition. Especially in the third part... For those interested in an Arc, as always: just send me a message. :-)

Where You'll find Him

This book has a good premise -- a May-September romance with two men who appear to really love each other. But then the melodramatic crap gets so thick you could cut it with a knife. Oh my goodness, when I was half way through this book, I looked at the page (page 136) and said, "Jeez, I still have another 70 pages of this crap." This book took almost a month to finish -- there was simply nothing that drove me to want to finish this book.

A little about the story . . . Gaspard, the older man, is the father of Malena who starts working at the local LGBT Center that is going through hard financial times. Wolfe is the young man who runs the Center and has to deal with decreasing public financing and ultimate closure of the center. (This includes the need to fire a drug addict/HIV + character who works in the center, Zach, who happens to have a thing for Malena.). Can you see how this gets melodramatic really fast?

I think the main problem if that there is no real heat or chemistry between the two main characters. Yes, they profess their admiration for each other, but that doesn't create any drive for this story.

It took four days to read from page 136 to page 150, not a ringing endorsement for this pity party of a pathetic book. And it took weeks to finish the last 70 pages. I don't know what to say -- this book has a great premise but just no compelling delivery. The only question for me was whether this book was one star or two stars: I went with two stars in sympathy for the author. Clearly, the author has something to say, he just hasn't done it very well in this book.

3.5 stars!

“I love you, Gaspard,” Wolfe whispered, leaning in to kiss him. He pressed his mouth to Gaspard’s lips but pulled away before Gaspard could kiss him back. “And you’re a fool to let me go.” Wolfe jumped into the street and walked away with his head hung low.
Wolfe never turned back.

I like this book a lot and although it wasn't as good as the author's other two books I've read, I still felt the angst of this book greatly. Gaspard and Wolfe's age difference really interest me. The story was sweet and hopeful but at the same time with angst and emotions distinctly Mel Bossa. Even though this book didn't affect me like 'Split' and 'In His Secret Life' did, I still enjoyed reading this book and happy to read a new book from this author.

This is a unique book in that there is very little sex, the main characters are almost overwhelmed by the secondary characters and though the romance is a central theme the book is really about growth and personal realtionships (not just romantic).

To me this book felt like a YA book about Wolfe and his growth in his family and getting over his past. I think it could have been labeled YA instead of contemporary … not sure if that’s appropriate either… it’s a unique book and hard to pigeon hole.

I didn’t understand the epilogue and the rest of the book was not really to my taste. I like a more centrally focused, erotic, romantic “romance” and this was MORE than that, but not what I was looking for.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot believe this book doesn't have better reviews. It's the best thing I've read this summer, and one of my top favorites since becoming a book reviewer. There is so much depth here, and I think I need a whole book club session devoted to discussing it. This is way beyond a romance and really falls into the genre of literary work. It's fantastic, and this is what I aspire to as a writer.

I am in awe of this story. There are very few books, no matter how much I love them, that make me want to read them over and over. This is one of those books. There are so many wonderful little details, and I’m sure I missed many of them in my first read-through.

This book hit on so many things I love: wonderful characters, a May-December romance, friendship, strong women, family, heavy on plot, romance secondary to character development, and sensual without being explicit. I was half in love with every single character in the story. They all had flaws, but not in such a way as to make them unlikable. These were people willing to fight not only for their romantic partners but all their relationships. While it’s all told alternating Wolfe’s and Gaspard’s perspectives, they were actually less important than the secondary characters.

I loved the scattered references, which I won’t spoil for other readers, and I’m sure I missed a lot of them. I will admit it took me a while to work out what I was supposed to be looking for, which is why I desperately need to read it again to find them all.

This novel felt to me more about giving and taking chances than about falling in love. That might be why it resonated so strongly with me. It made me feel so many things, and there were multiple times I had to pause to get my emotions under control again. What a beautifully written story.

The blurb had lots of elements that interested me. Unfortunately the writing was so horrible I couldn't stand it and stopped at about 17%. Don't read more by this author.
