A Contented House With Twins

Rate this book
A Contented House with Twins unites the UK's leading baby expert, Gina Ford, and the highly regarded television presenter Alice Beer, a mother of twin girls. Discovering you are pregnant with twins is both an exciting and a thoroughly terrifying prospect. Within weeks of the arrival of her beautiful daughters, Alice found that she was "screaming out for a routine" and craving the knowledge of mothers who had been through it with two. This book is the result of those cries. Alice's front-line experience of coping with twins is combined with Gina's highly successful parenting advice and, for the first time, her groundbreaking routines, specially adapted for twins. Together, they tackle the practical and emotional aspects of parenting two babies, including what you can expect in a multiple pregnancy; how to feed two at once; what to do when they each want a different story or both want a hug; and how to cope with everyday shopping, bath time, and much more. Alice's humorous insights and Gina's essential advice, tips, support, and successful routines will guarantee that parents enjoy their twins and get their lives back.

A great twin pregnancy read but, as with most things, not even close to preparing you for reality.

Gina-make toast at 7.46am- draw the blinds at 7.47am- change twin one nappy 7.48am -seriously, has this ever been achieved in the history of time?

Complete and Utter BS. This book fails to recognise the fact that a new twin parent isn’t a robot, is sleep deprived and exhausted from the very basics of existence and can’t be expected to follow a daily routine that is set to the minute. It doesn’t take into account the babies’ own body clocks either. This book isn’t just not realistic to follow, but it actually makes you feel rubbish because you can’t even begin to imagine following this supposed parenting guru’s advice.
My advice is don’t even start reading it.

helpful inly insomuch as it served as a model of how not to hyperorganize our sleep schedule. to be fair, we benefitted from having a feeding schedule for our twins we stick to for 3-4 hour intervals, but we wouldn't have to read a book to learn that.

Decent, text-book style advice on early days with twins. I read this after reading "Save our Sleep" and being somewhat dismayed by the short chapter on twins. The book has some reference sections on feeding routines which I think will be helpful. I'm always amused by these writers when I read sections on "hired help" and "what to look for in hired help"... Yeah that's great info, thanks...!

Really practical - she spells out a daily schedule for sleeping (by 15 min. intervals!) and eating/weaning for each growth stage in the babies' first year.
