Graphic Designer Remi Painter just finished taking a deep breath of satisfaction after acquiring a new design job when his long-time friend and aspiring perfumer, Jamie Sillinger, contacts him in desperate need of help. Jamie just completed perfumery school and is working on a start up when he is accused of murdering an old acquaintance, an act he emphatically denies. But the more Remi and his friends explore Jamie’s past and home laboratory they notice a possible connection to the crime. About the author

A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University (M.Ed.), Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (B.A.), and the Art Institute of York-PA (B.S.), Joshua Holmes has studied the fine arts, design, and writing for over 20 years.

The sole proprietor and lead designer of JAHbookdesign, he also specializes in all areas of publishing, graphic design, and illustration (portraiture, animation, and wildlife). He has been commissioned by numerous collectors and authors within the community, and has won several awards in various shows and fairs. He has authored an autobiography, a how to series, and two fiction series about life with epilepsy, 16 novels to date - The Art of Pastel Mastery, The Art of Colored Pencil Mastery, The Art of Oil Paint Mastery, Memory Lapse, Grand Mal, Seizure, Status, Trigger, Design To Kill, Design For Justice, Shattered Lung, Design To Escape, Design For Honor, Design For Power, Design For The Cure, and Painting The Whole Picture: Portrait of an Artist with Epilepsy.

He attributes his success to the Lord, and the strength God gives him in order to persist and grow as a more patient and thorough artist and writer. A vision cut in both eyes from brain surgery for epilepsy, with the Lord's help, Josh continues to write, to see more detail, and to improve with time.

"Who? What? Where? When? Why?"
When an elderly doctor dies after receiving a bottle of cologne from an old friend, that man immediately becomes suspected of his murder. Jamie was trying to start a perfume business and the doctor after as a tester of his new fragrances. A partner in the new business and also a close friend, Demi immediately goes to Jamie's assistance.

Shattered Lung is an intriguing story told from multiple viewpoints: that of the victims (more than one) a private eye team of investigators, Jamie, the killer, and Demi - this latter reporting on the first person - and the whole is interlaced with the recollections of Junior: the killer's past history which had brought him to the state of mind and decision to murder. It is an interests format but distracting, even confusing, especially given the the narrator, Chris Koprowski, though otherwise good, has a tendency not to pause at the endings of chapters, moving straight into the next without indicating the change. To follow the story, therefore, requires complete concentration (or the rewinding of the book to find out what is happening, especially in the earlier chapters).
