This is a beautifully put together book. It is a great look at some of the behind the scenes information including the history of the subject. The only thing that keeps us from being a five star rating is that some of the scenes that are quoted end it odd times and seem to miss some of the more poignant moments of the film.

This is one of my all time favourite movies. The companion book has wonderful photos and write-ups of how the movie was made. Lots of info about the Samurai tradition, beautiful quotes, and some of the philosophical dialogue. You may not like Tom, but the movie and this book offer so much more. It teaches tradition, Zen, philosophy, Budo, Iaido, etc. I don’t know what else to say, but read the book and watch the movie.

Buku yang sangat menghibur! Sambil membaca buku ini, aku memutar lagi filmnya, yang selalu menyentuh hatiku setiap menontonnya. Filosofi para samurai itu loh yang aku kagumi, minus seppuku-nya sih, karena bagaimana pun bunuh diri tetap salah bagiku. Menjunjung tinggi prinsip hidup adalah salah satu sisi Bushido (the samuray way) yang aku suka. Kerennya buku ini, selain foto2 adegan filmnya (ada sekitar 150 foto loh!), juga ada sejarah Jepang yang melatarbelakangi kisah film ini. Juga bagaimana usaha para kru film untuk menghasilkan film epic yang bagus ini. Lagipula, aku jadi bisa memandangi lama2 dan sering2 si ganteng Tom Cruise deh, hehehe...

I like this book because it made me feel like if I was really in china fighting that war and getting killed by your own country. This book also makes you feel like if your actually in the story.
