I really wanted to love this book... But in the end I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

But lets go through the pros first.
The idea behind the story I think is really interesting. An AI being able to inhabit a body and "become" human has the potential to be an amazing and fairly unique story.
The cover is beautiful and was the main reason I decided to download this book. It illustrates the story very well I think.

Now, lets get to the cons...
I really, really don't like serial reads. I hoped that as these came all in one collection that wouldn't really bother me. But it did. For me it made the story chopped up and not "smooth". (I realize it's my own fault, I should have expected this when I saw that it was originally a serial...)
I'm not a huge fan of the writing style, though I guess that is linked up to it originally being serials. It seems too... rushed to me.
Also, I'm not a huge fan on insta-love, and that is definitely the case here.
I'm not a huge fan of the ending either to be honest, but that is probably just my personal preference?

The first part, Becoming Violet, was by far my favourite, and I might have given 4 stars if that was the only one I had read. As the story progressed I started losing interest, though I was interested enough to finish the book.

All in all an ok read, I would recommend if you think the story sounds like something you would enjoy and you don't mind reading serials :)

I'm not a fan of "serial" type reads, but thankfully this was also offered as a complete book. Here's my breakdown:

Pros:
* Offered as a kindleunlimited
* Intriguing and unique storyline
* Fast moving and action packed plot
* I loved the futuristic vibe to it
* Beautiful cover

Cons:
* I wanted more in the sense of story pacing.... You get pulled into the story and then BAM, the next pages is a couple years later, I wanted more on what happened during that down time. I don’t care for unexpected time gaps in the plot.
* The main couple, while they were crazy about each other I was still wanting more in the sense of them developing as a couple. They seemed to have a lot more sex then conversations. Which isn’t always a bad thing, but it left me wanting to know more about them on an individual level.
* Extreme insta-love
* I wasn’t pleased with how it ended

Overall, I'm glad that I read this book. It was a one of a kind story and that’s always a refreshing quality. I'll definitely read more of this writers work.

Good read of hope, love, fantasy and science

Not quite a James Bond thrilled but a good read about the ominous future possible when scientists do not control their ambitious pursuits and concerns for humanity is left out in the cold.

I received a free download of this book for an honest review

A collected series of five novellas following a growing family of humanoid robots who question what it means to be human in the face of changing identities.

While I admit the style of the stories did not match my initial expectations, I was struck by how the successive tales telescoped and expanded as more were added on. From the initial story about a lonely man attempting to purchase and then return a robotic Life Companion and falling for a voice on the operator’s line that turned out to be an AI, the tales continue into the creation of ‘Violet,’ a humanoid robot who falls in love with Tom, our initial viewpoint character.

At this point, they are targeted by the company that created the Life Companions, now pursuing their nefarious plot to misuse robotics in the purpose of tyranny. Step by step, Violet and Tom must take up arms and do battle against evil while building their own strange but genuine family.

The novellas develop by paralleling this family’s development with their growing battle against the evil company, recreating a heroic arc with the mechanical materials of robots, leading to developments I did not expect. Primarily, the exterior combat proved a window and ground for the interior development of the characters.

Fans of the artificial intelligence genre have an interesting new story of artificial minds determining what it means to be human.

Human & Robot Merge

This omnibus is a collection of stories tied together by the main character Violet. She begins life as a computer program named Eve. Once she is sentient, she becomes a ‘person’ with a body, and all of the emotions and problems of a human.

In the first story Violet is humanized when the author has her eat and enjoy bacon.
“Now I know why you people are always raving about this stuff...”

Another scene I enjoyed was her first kiss with Tom. It was funny and touching. “Do you believe me now? Do I kiss like a…like a person?”

The introduction of other characters and plots twists make this an enjoyable book. The premise was quite interesting. What would it be like to fall in love with a human/robot hybrid? Is such a thing possible? Can hybrids develop emotions?

Although listed as Science Fiction, I’d like to add this has an amazing love story as a major part of the tale.

Logan Thomas Snyder has a head full of amazing and bold ideas. Those ideas are put on display here in the Violet Omnibus, the compilation of the five Violet stories previously released. I admire the story and the ability of Snyder's to put these ideas into a compelling story from the beginning of Violet and Tom's story to the end.
I've put a lot into my previous reviews of the five Violet books, so I'll save some of that here, but suffice it to say the action and emotional punch Snyder puts into the story is top notch. By the end of the book, you'll find yourself asking what it means to actually be human...what is it that defines artificial intelligence...why do we feel the way about humanity the way we do?
Snyder isn't afraid to tackle controversial issues head on and the omnibus of Violet is proof of that. I enjoyed reading the collected Violet story and know readers will as well.

Violet is a great collection of stories. I thoroughly enjoyed each nugget as they all built on the created world but also had an emotional impact of it's own. I had a hard time with some of the science at times. Violet can eat, but does she poop? And what about when she's "frozen" does she not eat then? So is the food not necessary? Other similar logic questions nagged at me at times. I also was skeptical of the money solution (I'm pretty sure it's what they did in Superman II...). Overall the writing was excellent. The author's use of language is both poignant and poetic and everything about it pulled me through the story. Violet had atmosphere as well as emotion and action packed plot. Definitely recommended.

The Violet series is a captivating tale of what happens when Artificial Intelligence evolves with all the traits humanity possesses. Logan Snyder does an amazing job weaving non stop action, love, and tragedy into a page turning, can't put it down story. I read the whole series in an omnibus format from start to finish in one sitting. Masterfully told, this story is one not to miss!

This book has it all! I laughed, I cried, it changed my life!

Not my usual read, I usually don't go in for love stories. But this is a story about loving...life, humanity, each other, family. Living, fighting, and even dying for that love. It grips you slowly, and then sucks you in completely...wow! Completely

A discourse on what humanity should be!

This story may be a work of science fiction, but it is so much more. While the plot progresses rapidly and captures the reader in the primary story, the characters will grab your heart. A lovely book! I highly recommend it to both SciFi and romance affectionados!

This is a story of the evolution of an AI. This is a story of how she chooses to live and if those choices are not in accordance to the company that 'owns' her, well... so what. This is Violet's story and it is very engaging!
