Poetry. AIR POCKET is Kimiko Hahn's first book, a collection rooted in the actual and emotional geography of California. "Kimiko Hahn is so good in so many different ways, it would be impossible not to wish her well"—Vijay Seshadri.
Kimiko Hahn is the author of seven poetry collections. The Unbearable Heart won the Before Columbus Foundation’s American Book Award. She has received numerous grants, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Award. She teaches at Queens College/The City University of New York.
What an interesting collection of poems! Kimiko Hahn’s Air Pocket was definitely not what I thought it would be to be honest. The poetry collection touches quite a bit on Japanese culture as well as political elements of the 80s. Some of the poems were much more explicit and vulgar than I had anticipated, but I didn’t mind. Overall, it was an interesting read through! Curious to see how other works by her are.
