I’m giving up on this thing. I got to page 122, but I’m tired of reading all the creepy ways this dude objectifies Japanese women. This is a great resource for things like identifying artists’ seals and sorting out which Utamaro was which, but the best thing this book did for me was make me newly grateful that I didn’t stay in graduate school to be punished by all this boring shit.

Van Gogh wrote a lot about the influence of Japanese woodcuts in his work. His love for the Japanese print was so great, he collaged reproductions into his own paintings

Straightforward history of the Japanese print and its various periods. Could have used more color illustrations.
