I received this book from Netgalley. It was a hilarious and short read. I only wish the main character wasn't so desperate but I guess anyone in his situation might react similarly.
This is a strange book. Different from other manga I’ve read. It’s basically about a 30-year-old virgin but not quite as hilarious as the film about the 40YO one. The MC is one of those passive loser types who is (way too) desperate for a gf/to be laid/to be loved. There were times when he came off as way too creepy and dislikable, and other times when I really felt for him. His biggest flaw is that he’s so down on himself that he is clueless about when a girl is actually interested in him or not.
This was a really long volume and it felt a bit repetitive and slow at times, like the MC wasn’t really making any progress at all, or that he would seem to but backslide. The worst part is that I can already kinda see where the story should be going but he can’t be that self aware yet.
I struggled about rating this. I didn’t really find it funny at all (Maybe I’m not a big enough otaku to get all the little inside jokes or maybe if I were a guy i would find the misogyny funnier.) I think if this had a little tightening it could have been a lot stronger. I was also disappointed that it seemed to just end. Like no cliffhanger or real resolution it just sort of stopped...
I could see myself reading more if other volumes are translated, but it’s not at the top of my list.
