I'm not the sort of man who deserves a happy ending, not after the life I've led. But when I see Eve, I know I’ll need more. She lights up the world for me, like twinkling Christmas lights glinting off fresh snow.
When I hear she's being auctioned off to raise money for charity, I won't allow anyone else to win her. It has to be me, and when I win her, I whisk her away to my cabin and keep her all to myself.
But when my past comes knocking, Eve will have to decide if my sins are too dark for her to ever find her happily ever after in a man like me.
Una lectura pasable pero me faltó más sentimiento navideño.

🎄Her Christmas Surprise de Lucy Darling ✨
Argumento:
Sweet read about a man in love with a woman who he thinks he doesn’t deserve. Luckily for him, she wants him too! There is just just something about him that’s intriguing even though they’ve only shared a handful of words in the last few years.
I love when a romance takes place in a little town where things have a different pace and people have their own way of dealing with things.
I immediately took a shine to the couple in this novella. He's a big man who's retired from a life of action and danger. It's the best thing when he feels this inexplicable and life-changing attraction to a girl in town. I liked her too. She's smart, assertive, yet vulnerable when it comes to the need for affection.
Heat and danger fill the story. I liked that he is gentle and protective with her, yet his inner dialogue is filled with promises of pleasure for her and extermination to anyone who dares harm her :-D There's a little plot twist at the end, and a sweet epilogue. It's a good story for this season and in general.
An automatic one click, Lucy Darling delivers dun and sexy stories with minimal drama.
Swoon Worthy Alphas who love hard and fast. Relatable female leads that you genuinely like, they have a quirkiness about them that is just so entertaining.
Sweet storyline’s that move quickly but engage a reader effortlessly.
Need more stars…. Love this book. Been waiting for since I started reading Liza and Crane’s book. They noticed each other right away but kept their distance for their own reasons. But the bachelorette auction them into action. The ending was adorable and hot!!!
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
Marco has been watching Eve for three years, waiting, when she puts herself in the charity bachelorette auction he makes his move. Eve is the mayor’s assistant, she has escaped her neglectful parents and built a new life for herself. She is attracted to Marco but knows nothing about him, she’d be very surprised to find out he’s a retired hitman. After the auction he takes her home to his house and they get to know one another better and have their first time together, she’s a virgin he’s been celibate for years. He’s very sweet with her. Drama when her parents show up. They have been keeping tabs on her and thought Marco had kidnapped her. They are two very successful lawyers who work for the same people Marco did at one time. They weren’t neglecting Eve, they were protecting her and working. They assure her parents they love each other. Epilogue years later with her the mayor of their small town and with twin girls. Fast paced with twist about her parents as hitman lawyers? Like both Marco’s and Eve’s characters.

Eh. This was okay. Because I read MINK's story that connects with this one, Her Chrismas Spy, I already knew the fast-paced and over the top love that Crane and Eliza experienced. So for this one to spend literally the first third of the story about the other couple was rather annoying and felt like a waste of word count. When we finally do get to Marco and Eve things go at super speed. Which I know, it's Lucy Darling novella this is to expected. But just because Marco has kept up with Eve and knows everything about her I don't personally feel the connection between Marco and Eve. Then we throw in the parents...and yeah shit just gets so irritating and confusing. They ignored Eve, but the loved her oh so much and didn't want her mixed up in there stuff... Ya. Sounds like a throw away excuse. I could've dealt without the parent crap getting thrown in.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
tw: dysnfuctional parents, mention of gun, kidnapping (not of FMC)
YOU GIVE ME HITMAN-FORMER ASSASSAIN ROMANCE, I WILL INHALE IT
3 stars just for the guy, pretty sure I'm ovulating as well. hormones so high I almost called the dog cute anyways, this book was to the point, the guy THE GUY OOF I lack vocab to describe how utterly disappointed I am that he is fictional give me a marco and I'll live another day
ALSOOSOSOOSKOOSOSO WTF WTF WTF NICK DAVINCI????????? MULTIVERSE OF SMUT????? MINK AND LUCY DARLING???? Her Christmas Spy this is Liza and Crane's book
helllloooooo????
p.s coming down from Marco's high, did not like Eve's parents at all dysfuntional parents turn me into a behemoth, hate them with passion
I won't lie, this was a bit painful to read through. The beginning chapter starts off fine but once the storyline kicks off the focus shifts to another couple. The rapid fire droning about this other couple doesn't end until about 30% in. The flow and narration is so staccato that it's difficult to fully immerse into the story; which is so unlike Lucy's writing style. Honestly, this story is rushed and definitely needed a round of rough editing. I think more time spent in this would have greatly helped the disconnect experienced while trying to follow the plot.
Marco is obsessed and the assistant to the mayor in the small town they live in, Eve is his target. When an auction for charity comes up, Marco sets out to get his girl. They end up trapped in his cabin and thus begins their journey to love!
This isn't your quick, insta love read. This author offers a lot more and then some. I LOVE when I'm surprised by a story teller and Ms. Darling just did with this wonderful tale!
I loved it. I’ve had a lot of lack luster reads lately which could be affecting my rating (a year ago me might say it’s more like a 4) but I enjoyed the shit out of it so I don’t even care. The writing was fabulous especially for a shorter book. I often have to look past the editing nightmares (or should I say non editing nightmares) and amateurish writing because I prefer a romance I can read in an evening.
I’ve been looking forward to Marco and Eve’s story since I read Crane and Liza’s story and it was everything I hoped for and more! He is strong, silent and gentle (well, he’s gentle with Eve!). She is independent and lonely. They are totally meant to be. What a great short, sweet and steamy holiday romance!
Romance trope: age gap; pining away Length: 89 pages
Plot: Eve has made a new life for herself as an assistant to the mayor, but she's missing something: Marco. She's had a thing for Marco for some time, but he doesn't seem to notice her. Little does she know that he spends all of his time noticing her.
Commentary: Marco was another tortured hero, an ex-hitman/mafia/criminal guy that fell in love the minute he saw his girl. He's a little older than her and is definitely an outcast, but by choice. The town seems pretty good about accepting everyone. But once he has Eve in his clutches, he won't let her go, even through the drama with her family (which was the most unbelievable part of the story - I mean, academics who are really mastermind criminal hitmen who are definitely neglectful parents).
I loved this! Love from afar (maybe a little more, but hey, hey totally couldn’t get her off his mind!), and with one charity auction afar is no more. Marco finally gets his time with Eve, and she gets to see he’s more than just the dark grumbly guy who comes to town on occasion. I very much loved these two together and hope there’s another story coming 😏
I loved this one as the follow up to Crane and Liza’s story. Eve comes off as so strong and capable, it was nice to get her point of view. Loved Marco. His obsession with Eve started as soon as she walked into town but he hid it so well. The local town bachelorette auction brings it all to a head and Marco loses his once he see's her up there. Such a fun, quick read.
Sweet story about a retired assassin and the sweet and innocent Eve. Marco has been living on the outskirts of a small town for 5 years and obssessed with Eve for the past 3. He doesn't approach her because he thinks someone like him doesn't deserve to have someone like her. All that changes one snowy night and he make his move. Highly recommended
Oh my my.. What a short and steamy story.. 👌👍🔥❤️🔥🥰
Marco and Eve's story starts with a bang. I love how fast Marco gets to make Eve his after a few months.. Years.. I love their chemistry and how easy they understand each other. Love the epilogue and the steamy smexy baby making😉🔥❤️🔥.. It's hot!! Love LD books..
Not really, it’s no surprise that this book is excellent! It’s a fun read with unrequited followed by requited lust and love mixed with a bit of danger and intrigue. It perfectly follows the 1st book involving these characters which is Her Christmas Spy written by Mink, that doesn’t have to be, but should be read 1st to get the best experience.💖💖💖💖💖
If you have not read the other book involving two other mentioned characters before this one, then you may be confused like I was about certain things in the beginning. In general, this book lacked anything super interesting that could keep my attention, I found myself spacing out often and forcing myself to finish it. The steamy scenes were okay, nothing new or super interesting either.
Former hitman/assassin who doesn't think he's good enough for h finally makes his move when the woman he's been secretly pining/stalking for 3 long years takes part in a Christmas charity auction. Parents of the h create some minor drama but ends with a HEA.
Marco and Eve were so amazing together. She was everything he wasn't. Eve was sweet and kind and loving. Marco was hard and a strong man who needed sweetness in his life, and the day he met Eve was the day he found his happiness. The ending was so perfect and beautiful.
This is a stereotypical quick instalove story., but I found the flow of the narrative to be a little choppy, especially the first half or so. I get that this is a noveella, but there seemed to be parts of the backstory that were missing.
This was a quick, sweet read! I love a man obsessed and Marco was exactly that. He was a man the town feared and gossiped about but with Eve he was sweet, caring and protective. This was fast paced and had a good plot along with some spice
Love a quick and spicy read. Getting in the Christmas spirit with fun and flirty Christmas novellas!!! Gotta love the slight stalker vide but they don't take it too far. 😂
A cute and steamy novella. Marco and Eve have been kind of ignoring their love for each other until one day Marco can't anymore and takes her away. It's cute. I liked him with her.
