Lock the doors! Pack your bags! Run for your life! Sneaky Cousin John only acts like a bully when adults aren’t around, so Mom doesn’t know it’s a battle of wills every visit. Ben and his kitty are on the verge of fleeing . . . when inspiration strikes. Suddenly, he and his loyal kitty have reason to think that this visit will be fun, even if it’s not the way Mom imagines.

Depending on your sense of humor and if you can get past the (IMO) somewhat creepy cover, this story about two cousins who enjoy coming up with new ways to outwit each other could be an enjoyable read aloud for tweens (those between ages 8 and 12). Cousin John even reminded me a little bit of one of my own nephews.
A great book to read through once without letting the kids see the covers or pictures. Then, reread and show them the cover and pictures. My students thought it was funny!
I read this book as a read aloud to my fifth graders and they loved it. They loved stopping and making predictions throughout the book, this made then feel very engaged while reading! It was very funny story! Definitely recommend.
