"Another page-turner by Dean Urdahl. The high drama of frontier life in Minnesota during the Civil War comes to life vividly through his masterful story-telling. A must read!" –Mark Dayton, governor of Minnesota
This was a historical fiction novel that takes place following the Sioux Uprising of 1862 in southern Minnesota. As a result of this event, politicians and armies combine to eradicate the Sioux from the Minnesota landscape. It would have been a better read if there had not been so many regiments, companies, battalions, and armies to keep track in mind. Not to many mention the number of Indian tribes involved. But the basic premise, that Minnesota blackened its name by the actions taken during this upheaval, came through loud and clear. We did not play fair.
