Mack King could be my baby daddy any day of the week. There's just something about a bad boy who wants to be a good man that just strokes every button that I have. :) I liked this book better than the previous one because I liked the characters more. Jonna is much more likable than Harley so that made me like this one better. Mack is just, daaaaayum, I don't even know. I guess it's the whole Alpha male, I'll protect you, you're mine thing that he sends out that just made me need to change my panties.

So, when I read the first book in this series, Carolina Hurricane, Mack came across as kind of an ass-a playboy bad boy who basically deserved Harley leaving him. Here in Carolina King? Yeah, I kind of fell for him in this story...which just proves the point that you should never write off a character based on a story that's not their own.
Hearing Mack's backstory and seeing how he acts and the emotions he shows with Jonna had me doing a complete one hundred and eighty degree turn from how I thought of him before. Strong, protective alpha male...he's got that nailed down. Will do anything for someone he cares about? That too.
Despite Jonna's young age, her character comes across as more mature than you'd expect. I found her to be refreshing with her snarky, smart-ass attitude, and the way she and Mack fit together comes across as natural and right.
There's plenty of action and suspense right alongside a healthy dose of hot and steamy intimate scenes, all making this an engaging 4-star read for me. Oh, and let's not forget the cliffhanger at the end that has me just itching to get my hands on Blake's story coming next...

My Review:
Gwendolyn Grace has mastered the cliffhanger – which typically changes the air around me into various tints of blue – sigh, but she has managed to hook me twice now, and I can accept it from her somehow. While reading her latest offering of Carolina King, I found myself conflicted as I was definitely team Drew in book 1 Carolina Hurricane, and here I am getting all feely about his nemesis Mack King. I was going soft for Mack and Jonna then I realized – what I am doing, he’s a street punk and a player?!? But this is one of those lessons that people and things are not what they seem - which is a trope I greatly admire as it causes people to rethink their perceptions, which, hopefully, will carry over into their real life attitudes. Ms. Grace’s writing is again entertaining, easy to follow, thoughtful, and deliciously sensual. And also hopelessly addictive. With that ending, I have to know what happens next… mumble… blue air…

At the start of this second book, we get to see Harley and Mack's story on how they met from his point of view. It was interesting to see Harley's smart mouth right off the bat and what drew Mack to her. Current day, enter Jonna barreling down a dark road and Mack standing in the middle of the road, drunk. Life gets more interesting when Mack starts hallucinating about fireflies and then Jonna takes off after someone else comes to Mack's rescue. When do they run into each other again? What happens? When Mack is due to race against Jonna's brother Fox, what does she ask of him? Why? What happens? The Risto's are a new family on the island. What does Jonna witness outside of the Risto's home with Tayia one night as they're leaving? What is that all about? Who all is there? When Harley asks Jonna for help in getting a box from her ex-boyfriend's house in Charleston, how does that go? When Mack comes to Jonna's work that her family owns, to talk to her, what happens? Watching a relationship blossom between Jonna and Mack is nothing short of riveting. Especially when we find out who the 'old guy' is in the restaurant/bar that keeps asking her for the time. When the old man gets arrested himself, what happens? Who set up everything that was happening? Who is behind it all? When Tayia calls Jonna at the end of the book, she drops a bombshell that leaves us with a hint of what is to come. You're going to have to read this book to see how Mack King's life changes. Is it for the better or for the worse? Enjoy the read! I did!

Carolina King by Gwendolyn Grace is the second novel in her Drive Me Wild series. Continuing in the world of illegal street racing, this story focuses on Mack and Jonna. Mack is the a$$hat ex of Harley and Jonna is the sister of Fox. We met Harley and Fox in Carolina Hurricane.
This story is well-paced, slightly heartbreaking, and really very good. I'm fast becoming addicted to this authors work.
Mack wasn't the greatest when I met him reading book one, but we get so much more of his back story and reasoning this time around and it is really quite tragic. Jonna is a tough, take-no-crap girl who has her sights set on Mack. When she gets his attention she becomes his focus. His light in the darkness that he is trying so desperately to extricate himself from.
Read it - you won't regret it - start with book one because, well, why not?

Given an ARC for an honest review. Gwendolyn Grace had us ride out a storm in Carolina Hurricane. She has now taken us from 0 to 100 in 4.5 secs. Mack King is one hot alpha that is trying to make things right in his life. Jonna is a young woman that wants the man. What they didn't expect was the fuel that ignited the fire. King needed to get things together in his life and didn't want to pull Jonna into danger. All characters from Carolina Hurricane make an appearance and they do no disappoint. These pages had steam rising off the asphalt. King has skills for racing, taking corners and he will rev your engine in the bedroom. As the story continues you find yourself falling for these characters. These two have a lot to work through but the question is: Can they handle the final 1/4 mile? Hot read! Let's go racing!

This is the second book in this amazing series. This one is just as well written has the first one and just has enjoyable. This one has a little more of a story line as it deals with more intense feelings and emotions. This one is about Mack the wild racer who is dealing with finding out that the girl he was with for on and off 5 years has completely left him this time for a rival racer.
Mack and his brother Brando grew up in a world that was rough. They lived with an alcoholic father who ended up in prison. Their mom ended up having to work 2 jobs to support them but they both start early in life doing what they could to make ends meat, even if it wasn't always safe or legal. Now they are trying to clear up their past and have a somewhat normal life. But that is not always so easy.
When Jonna comes into the picture Mack is already in the process of working on changing what is going on in his life. Mack really likes Jonna and doesnt want her to see the bad side of him. But Jonna is willing to do whatever and go through whatever since she has liked him for a long time. But Jonna is playing with fire when it comes to Mack because as we know he is the rival of her brother. But Jonna is the type of person who doesnt listen to rules and doesnt care what he brother thinks. She just wants to be happy. They share one night of passion and it ends up not being enough for these two .
Jonna starts to feel overwhelmed and ends up pulling away from Mack with no explanation what so ever. During this process something happens to him that gives him time to realize just what Jonna means to him. They both end up enduring some very rough times but love gets them through it all.
This book had me on the edge of my seat. It was gripping with an amazing love story. An extremely sexy read with some laugh out loud moments, intense drama, action and suspense. I am dying to read the next one in this series.Highly recommend grabbing this and reading it.

I loved the first book in this series, but I think I loved this one a little more! In the first book we meet Mack and he's made out to be the bad guy a little bit. You definitely don't feel sorry for him when you meet him, but in this book we get to learn a lot more about Mack and I really ended up liking him a lot! The female lead in this book we meet in the first book as well, Jonna, is Fox and Wood's little sister. Jonna has had an infatuation with Mack for about 6 years. She knows all there is to know about him, and makes sure she is at The Spot every time there is a race to watch him.
After Mack finds out that Harley has moved on with someone else, he is a little upset about it. He always thought she would come back just like she always did. After they confront each other in the last book, he drinks a little too much and goes walking around. He's standing in the middle of the road and someone hits him with their car. That someone is Jonna. When he sees her he is instantly attracted to her light, and he calls her his FireFly. He doesn't know if she is even real or who she is but he likes her lightness to his darkness. Jonna and him formally meet at a party a couple days later and since Jonna has fantasized about him for a long time she is going to do anything she can to get him to notice her. When they hook up, it's off the charts hot. For Jonna it's everything she imagined and more.
The night of Mack and Fox's race, Mack sees Jonna and pulls her aside and he ends up finding out that she is Fox's sister and isn't too happy about it. This crushes Jonna because he says that they wouldn't have happened had he known. Before she leaves Jonna lets it slip that her brother has to win the race to get the money to pay off a debt for Woody. She never thought that Mack would throw the race for her brother to win, but he does. In order for them to be 'even' as Mack says, he wants Jonna. She is all to willing to accept since this is her dream man. They start a sort of affair were they hook up whenever they can but that's it. Jonna isn't sure if she can take that since she already has feelings for him but she will take what she can get of him.
One night Harley asks if Jonna will drive her to her ex's house to pick up something she has left there because she doesn't want Fox to know. Jonna is very surprised to find out that Mack is Harley's ex. She can't believe that she didn't know especially since she thought she knew everything about him and she's really upset because Harley is the sister she never had and she doesn't want to ruin that relationship they've built. Along with that bugging Jonna, she finds out Mack is into some less than legal activities and that her brother, Woody, is helping the detectives build a case against Mack. She refuses to see Mack thinking he will blame her and not wanting him to know her brother is involved in helping them.
One night Mack bangs on her door til she opens up because he wants to know why she won't see him or talk to him. Jonna won't open the door to him but her brothers find him leaving her apartment above the restaurant and all hell breaks loose. Jonna comes down to stick up for Mack and ends up in the crossfires of the mens fight. This is the point in the book where I could really see Mack had really started to develop feelings for Jonna and I was happy for them when they talked and worked everything out between them. But this a book and there has to be some conflict right?? RIGHT...Fox demands a race against Mack, if Mack wins he walks away from Jonna and gets his #1 spot back, if Fox wins he get's the title of King of the Carolina's.
I'm gonna stop there, this book is so good!! Jonna and Mack do get their HEA, but let me tell you they go through a lot to get to it. This book had a little more suspense then the first one but it was just as great. I think the steam factor was hotter in this book too! If you guys liked the first book I recommend picking up this one! It was everything the first book was and more! I can't wait to read book 3 and find out more about Blake and Tayia!

WOW! Another grand slam for Gwendolyn Grace! I freakin LOVED LOVED LOVED Carolina King!
Jonna Fox has been obsessed with Mack King for a while, and it didn't matter that he was her brother's rival. No matter what people said, she believes there's good in him. Mack and his brother grew up with an alcoholic father who ended up going to prison. That left his mother working 2 jobs to keep food on the table. The boys started doing what ever it took to make ends meet early on. Now he's been the king of street racing for the last 4 years. Racers respect him, and women couldn't get enough of him. When he meets Jonna, their connection is explosive. Although, he doesn't think he's good enough for her, she makes him want to be a better man. Will Jonna be able to prove to Mack that he can be the man she knows he is deep down?
In my opinion, one of the marks of a fantastic author, is the ability to change a readers mind about a character they already developed strong feelings about. I couldn't stand Mack King in Carolina Hurricane, and it's very hard to change my mind once it's made up. The author did a brilliant job writing Mack's story showing his remarkable journey in cleaning up his past, and becoming a better man. The way she developed his character was straight up amazing! Jonna Fox was another strong female character full of sass, that I related to well. Gwendolyn Grace has serious talent in drawing me in from the first page, and not letting me go until the end, while craving more. This short book is full of humor, suspense, drama, action, SCORCHING HOT sexy scenes, and love without it seeming overwhelming because too much was squeezed in. HIGHLY recommend Carolina King, and CAN'T WAIT for the next book!

I received this novella for an honest review. I absolutely LOVED Mack King and this entire story. I love the bad boy in Mack. I love that he has his nickname "firefly" for Jonna and calls her it throughout this novella. I love racing and cars so I'm a little partial to this type of book and Gwendolyn Grace hit it out of the park for me.

Characters from Carolina Hurricane also make appearances in this book so id read that first.
Mack King has dominated illegal street racing for the last four years and is the Carolina King.Jonna wants to find out everything about Mack hes also her brothers rival.Jonna cant help but be attracted to Mack but he doesn’t even know shes alive so she decides to change that!! OMG!!! Can this story get any hotter than the first???? Yes, Yes, it can and it is so damn hot, that it is steaming hot!!! I love me a bad boy, but you add into the bad boy mix some illegal street racing and you have yourself a really bad ass bad boy!!! Yeah, that is what I am talking about. I honestly didn't like Mack King in the first book whatsoever. If someone were to have told me while reading the first book that I would flove him in the next book, I would say your out of your effin mind. Boy, was I wrong!!! Mack and Jonna's story really took me for a ride and I floved every minute of it. Growing up in the drag racing/street racing world made me a little more partial to this book. I floved this story from beginning to end and I just so happened to have picked me up a few more book boyfriends along the way. The writing is phenomenal. I floved book 1 and really FLOVED book 2!!! I'm sure Carolina Crush (Drive Me Wild #3) will be even hotter!! I can't wait to read the next. Until next time all you book babes and boyfriends out there!!! Be sure to pick this series up and read. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh. My. God. Words are what I'm lacking to describe this book! I loved Carolina King and I'm still thinking about it, and I finished it this morning. Sweet Jesus, Mack King stole my damn heart and raced away with it. There was so many twists and turns in this book.
Jonna Fox was a girl who doesn't take BS from anybody, and I loved that about her. She's the type of girl I would love to be best friends with. She is blunt, honest, and straight up badass! Tough as nails, but when you grow up with two older brothers, you sort of have to me.
When I started this series, I wasn't expecting to stay up until the wee hours of the morning reading book 1, only to immediately begin book 2 since I had it sitting on my kindle. If I could go back, I'd read these books again and again because they are just that good! Oh, and the sex is HAWT! I had to fan myself quite a few times reading these books. ;)
If you want a book that you will fall in love with the characters from page 1, then pick up this series. You won't regret falling in love with it like I did. #MyMackKing #IOwnHim

I loved this book more than the first one. I absolutely hated Mack in book one but he really did redeem himself in this book of the Drive Me Wild series.
I met Jonna in book one and I knew that she was Drew and Woody's sister. I knew she was fiesty and a bit of a spitfire but I didn't know how much. I liked how she was with Mack right off the bat and I liked how she pushed to get to know him when she thought he was pushing her away.
It turned out that Mack had good reasons for pushing Jonna away and they were for her own good. It was nice to see that someone could actually penetrate his tough exterior and open him up. I liked the softer side of Mack and it did not take away from his sexiness at all. This book had plenty of sexy and Mack was at the center of them all.
There are quite a few new developments going on in this book in regards to the racing circuit and even the other characters lives. The very last words of this book dropped a bomb that sets the tone for th next book in the series and I can not wait for it. I look forward to more of what is going on with the other characters.

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review. I love this series. This is book 2 and I recommend reading Carolina Hurricane (Drive Me Wild Book 1) first. This about story is Jonna and Mack’s. The first time Jonna sees Mack, she starts crushing on him, but he doesn't know she exists. I mean, he is Mack King, undisputed King of the underground racing circuit and she is just Jonna Fox, younger sister to Mack’s biggest rival.
One day, Jonna decides that enough is enough and Mack needs to notice her. She dons a short skirt and high heels and heads out. When he sees her, he wants her. They hook up, but is it enough for the both of them? Read and find out.
Gwendolyn Grace has a hit series on her hands. I have read so many books that I can no longer keep track of the number and this is the first time I have read a series like this. I really enjoyed Book One in this series and Book 2 was even better.
With a lot more action, a bit more story and some very good sexy time scenes, Carolina King is the story of Mack and Jonna. Gwendolyn, took everything that was good from the last book, and wrote it just that little bit better this time.
I really liked Jonna. She may be young, and overprotected by her parents and brothers, but none of that made her a prissy little princess with the attitude to go with it. She was a strong, confident girl and I think she was a well written character.
Mack, well he seemed like a bit of an arse in book one but we got to meet the real Mack this time. He was actually really nice, and although he was still a little off with Jonna at times, it was explained eventually why he was like that.
I don't really want to say much more for fear of spoilers but I'm really enjoying this series so far and can't wait for Book 3.

When I read Carolina Hurricane I thought that Mack was a Bad guy who cheated on Harley and doesn't care much about anything except his title but after reading Carolina King I realized How Wrong I was.
This book shows the story of Mack and his real self that he keeps hidden under his facade or mask to the world. He is surrounded by the Darkness of the mistake that he made in his past. But Jonna brings happiness and light in his life. She doesn't care what others say about Mack.
I Never thought I Would love Mack King. But I have fallen in love with him after reading the book. I Recommend everyone to Grab this series and meet these sexy men.

Going into this book I was a little unsure of Mack. In book one he wasn’t very promising. He’s a bad boy and he didn’t seem to care all that much about Harley. He was still a bit intriguing. In this book you’ll discover who Mack is he’s still very much a bad boy….he’s a HOT-sweet-Alpha male-badass-racer. He is perfect for the moody and opinionated Jonna.
This book is a great addition to this series. Gwendolyn’s writing is always superb you’ll never be disappointed with any of her books, and the stories get better and better as well. I highly recommend this book, this series, and anything written by Gwendolyn, you wont be disappointed.

This was a great book in addition to the Carolina King series. I really loved reading about Mack in this one. He was totally a alpha bad boy in this one. I really loved reading him in the first Carolina King book he was an amazing character. Gwendolyn Grace creates a great series where all the characters are great. This book will hook you on the first page.
Jonna Fox is a tough as nails chick who doesn't put up with all the drama. She has two older brothers who look out for her. Mack King is a race car driver doing the back roads. He has had it rough he and his brother grew up with a dad who was in prison and a mom who worked a lot to keep her kids well off.

Can I have more Mack King, please?
I was a huge fan of Drew and Harley in the first book of the Drive me Wild series, but I am totally in love with Mack and Jonna in the second book, Carolina King. Mack King so darn sexy and he's got that bit of mystery to him that I absolutely love. Bad boy, maybe, maybe not?
He's the type your mother warned you about, but why is he so irresistible? You'll have to read to find out, but Jonna is one lucky lady and I'm glad the author created her character to be confident, knowing exactly what she wanted, no matter the risks.
Swoon-worthy guys, fast race cars, and a story that's sure to win you over, Carolina King is a five star read. Congrats to Gwendolyn Grace for another fabulous read.

This is the second book in the Drive Me Wild Series by Gwendolyn Grace. I was not really sure about reading this book because it is Mack's story and from what we know about him in the first book were not all good things. Mack seemed to thing he owned street racing and was the King in the first book. But in this book we get to see a different side of him. Joanna Fox is his biggest rivals sister and is off limits. But there is just something about Joanna that makes him forget about everything else. He is also trying to turn is life around and be a better person. I am so glad I was able to read this book. I am now a huge fan of Mack's, though I wouldn't know who to pull for if it was him and Fox in a street race. I recommend this book and hope Gwendolyn writes more in this series.

Mack King has made mistakes in his life. Many that he is not proud of and now he is trying to claw his way out of the hole. Enter Jonna, she knows everything important about Mack or at least she thought she did. Her brothers aren't happy with Jonna sniffing around Mack. They know he is scum, but can Mack and Jonna prove them wrong?
Mack grew on me in this book. I felt like he was more than just an arrogant racer. He had a checkered past and didn't want that any more. His love for Jonna amazed me. He needed her like he needed his next breathe. They balanced each other so well.

They just keep getting better and better it was slow as t first must then I couldn't put it down This was a guy wanting a change but I felt with no motivation until he met Jonna then things slowly started to change it was bitter sweet at first s t then it was blowed into full force .It was as if you were there in their feelings for each other one giving all the other trying cause he never had or felt like that with anyone before sure he had a relationship for five years but it wasn't concrete way to go ::) hope to see more can't wait for the next one

I was given Carolina King (Drive Me Wild 2) by Gwendolyn Grace for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars. I love Jonna and Mack! Mack (Adam) is so so so hot! Mack connected with Jonna at a time in his life when he was ready to change his life and her love for him gave him the strength to stick to his new path. Jonna shows her strength by standing up to her family for Mack. I recommend this book and can't wait for the next one...I am quickly becoming addicted ...oh who am I kidding...I'm already addicted to this series.

I enjoy reading Gwendolyn Grace’s work. I read the first book Carolina Hurricane. It isn’t vital that you read it but it gives you some background. Gwendolyn puts a wicked twist in this story that made me sit up and say WTF.
Mack is “King” of racing. His alpha-ness brings lots of attention from the girls. But he has eyes for Jonna.
Jonna has been crushing on Mack for a long time. Problem is, her brother, is Macks main rival. The story plays out beautifully.

This book was extremely action-packed and sucked me in at the first page. I love books that involve men with interesting backgrounds, such as street racing. I've always found that those things add to the story and make the book more of an escape. it's like the first book in the series in that the character development and personality make you want to know more about the people involved and how they interact. This book is a must read for anyone who loves romance.

Wow wow wow. Mack is one heck of a man. He can swoop me up any day. Mack is a secretive man. He got knocked on his butt by a mystery girl. Jonna is a spunky girl that goes for what she wants. She had a wild night at the races and ended up in Macks arms. Mack realized she was his firefly. Jonnas family was not happy at first with her decisions. She and Harley have become really close and she gave her some great advice but will she take her advice?
