Sharing his memories of nearly 27 years working for "a genius whose enormous vision was equaled only by the size of his ego", Kinney, in 125 wonderful animator-style illustrations, tells what really went on behind the scenes.
I found this in the bargain bin at Books-a-Million and it turned out to be my favorite book to offer a glimpse into the golden years of Walt Disney's studio & I find myself going back to it for anecdotes.
This was great fun and was written/drawn in such a playful way. It was fascinating to hear behind-the-scenes stories, even if you had to fill in some blanks.
It's always nice to see a first hand account from a person who worked in the animation industry during its golden age. I was pleasantly surprised to see that director Jack Kinney wrote one on his years at the Disney studio. He goes into detail on how he got started, what went on in the studio on a daily basis, the people he worked with, and gives an honest account on what it was like working with Walt himself. He writes his account with a lot of wit and humor.
Really great reading about Mr. Kinney. He has a perspective of Disney and the studios that includes the flaws, which is wonderful. Plus his drawings are awesome.
