The story of George "Bud" Day who flew F-100s on perilous MISTY FAC missions and then as a POW in North Vietnam became one of America's greatest heroes and earned the Congressional Medal of Honor. Signed in ink by Col. Bud Day Red Leather "Signature" $65.00
I just finished this today and learned Day's wife, Doris, passed away last week, which makes this book somehow more special. She was an important source of strength for Bud as he endured six years of brutal treatment in captivity. Let that sink in. Six years! The book is less than 300 pages and it was difficult at times to read. It makes you wonder if you have what it takes to survive like he did. And Day took it all in stride, with no regrets and no looking back.
The war in Vietnam will be no less confusing or clouded in controversy after reading this. Its simply one man's story - mostly in solitary confinement at that. But it is powerful. Day is still considered one of the nation's most decorated warriors of all time and he does not keep his opinions to himself.
Fascinating, disturbing account of Col. Day's captivity by North Korea during the Vietnam War. Very insightful not only as to the treatment endured, but also the political aspect relating to the prosecution of the war. As a child during the Vietnam War, I found the whole thing rather confusing. This account clarifies quite a bit of it for me.
Amazing, horrific story of the author's capture, treatment, and escape during Viet Nam war. I was unable to read it in its entirety due to the description of the brutality author endured.
