A cute, though predictable, love story. It tells the transformation of a girl who works hard and hates the rich boy, to loving the rich boy. And him loving her back. Awwwww how cute. Anyway, this was a pretty good read. Good for when you have a spare hour to blow. Or for trips to the beach while tanning.
I was fortunate enough to win a free copy from goodreads in exchange for my honest review
I stumbled onto this book on Goodreads, drawn mostly to the title and cover. I'm a sucker for anything in an East Coast resort setting, Atlantic or Gulf coast. I ordered the book from Amazon, and was more than a little surprised when it arrived in the mail. First notes were that it was only 112 pages long, and through a publisher I was not familiar with - Revival Waves of Glory. Hmm. I must admit I began reading with a bit of skepticism - what would this book have to offer?
It was a quick read, completed in just under two hours, and was pleasantly entertaining. I quickly recognized the book as a standard romance novel story, but with a refreshing PG rating. A quick Google search of Revival Waves of Glory showed it to actually be a ministry that also publishes books. Makes sense.
But don't let that sway you, for or against. This is a cute, entertaining story with main characters that are surprisingly well developed despite the brief length. Other supporting characters are introduced, though not with much detail or back story. Perhaps they will be featured in additional books in this series?
This book reminded me very much of the novels published in the late 70s, early 80s, as Silhouette Romance novels - the old purple and white books - not the current rendition of Silhouette. The older version stood out in their time from the better known Harlequin Romance series due to their lack of intimate detail - relying instead on the build up - the longing glances, chance touches, deep kisses… leaving what comes next to the imagination.
I enjoyed reading Seaside Haven, getting to know Sierra and Phoenix, and recalling the beautiful Florida sunrises I miss so much as they enjoyed coffee on their private seaside deck each morning.
This book is perfect to drop in the beach bag, a quick bit of entertainment when you have a few minutes to sit by the pool or with your toes in the sand. I look forward to additional books in the Seaside Series.
Wow! I was amazed that a short story could be so good! I enjoyed the story of Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks which came to thought as I read this story, and I can say I have enjoyed Seaside Haven just as much, with one exception being this story had a better ending. Sierra's a woman who has just gotten her life back together and Pheonix is a man who's life has just been broken in more than one way, and changed for life. It just may be for his own good especially when he meets Sierra the manager of Seaside Haven. Sandra W. Burch is a very good writer and I plan on reading more of her books. I highly recommend this book to Romance readers. I received this book for free from Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.
Absolutely could not put this book down!! Sad to actually be finished. Such a quick and easy read from start to finish. The story sucks you in from the beginning and grabs hold of you. You can't help but get lost and visualize yourself in the story in each and every part. I can not wait for the next book in this series as I am left wanting to know the rest of their story!
This novel by author Sandra W. Burch is especially well written and enjoyable from first page to last. The hopes and fears of the principal characters are portrayed in vivid scenes and settings, taking us to the places and circumstances that lead to actions and reactions...Sierra Ramstad's uncertainty of her future and Phoenix Chamberlain's unwillingness to work at physical therapy to regain his mobility. A clash in their personalities and social status makes for difficult communication between them and many misunderstandings about the future operation of Seaside Resort. The ending has a surprise twist that leaves you thirsting for more of the story. Luckily for us, Sandra has a sequel coming out in September 2015!
I received this Audio Book as a gift. The genre is not really one I go out of my way to purchase or listen to, but I found myself in traffic and decided to give it a shot. I am glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was perfect summer company for me on my long journey. Sandra W. Burch's style of storytelling and character development are laudable. Listening to her story as an Audio Book made me feel like I was listening to an old time radio program rather than listening to the audio version of a book. She has a unique gift for expression and she painted a very descript and vivid picture of this seaside community and its colorful characters. The audience for this book is broad and it was a refreshing surprise for me. I highly recommend it.
If you're looking for a short, feel-good read, put "Seaside Haven" by Sandra W. Burch on your to-read shelf! As far as romance writers are concerned, Sandra Burch stands out from the crowd due to her writing style. She has won awards for her poetry, and that talent shines in her prose as well. The very first paragraph draws you in with its figurative language. Ms. Burch expertly uses the background of a stormy day at sea to introduce the central conflict. The reader meets both characters before the first chapter is over, and the tension between them is clear. You can't help but begin the next chapter, eager to see where their relationship will take them.
I received my copy of Seaside Haven in the mail yesterday. Before bedtime, I had finished reading it. It's a quick, easy read, and I loved the storyline. However, I would have loved it to be a little longer! I'll just have to wait for the next book in the series.
I usually don't read romance books, but I picked this one up and couldn't put it down. Then some years later, I had the privilege of meeting Sandra and working with her side by side as she edited my soon-to-be released fiction book, Retribution.
