Perfect for stay-at-home silly snow days or anytime a laugh is needed to get through the chilly winter season.
This is a lovely book to read with younger children. Clear bright pictures and simple text. We had a lot of fun reading this together, and I loved the ending too.
A funny story about a snowball who decides to visit the town down the hill but trips and ends up gathering speed and girth as he rockets towards the town. Wacky rhyming text will please young readers who enjoy funny stories. Hand it to fans of excessive stories like The Runaway Pumpkin and Whopper Cake.
From the creator of Supertato, Snowball is the perfect way to introduce little ones to the idea of snowballs and the way that they can get bigger when you roll them. Snowball falls down the hill and quickly gathers everything in sight - twigs, a sheep, even a whole zoo! - filling this story with hilarious illustrations that will have you and your little one both laughing your heads off. Not only is it funny, it's also very heartwarming: the end of Snowball's story is sure to make the whole family go "awwwwwh!".
Thanks to Edelweiss and Grosse & Dunlap for a pre-publication electronic copy of this title.
So many books for this age group are written in rhyme which comes across as forced. Snowball is one of the rare ones where there are a only a few moments where the rhyme doesn't quite work. The charm of the illustrations, the clever idea and portrayal of the main characters trip down the mountain and the personality that come through make up for the majority of the slight problems with the text.
This is an enjoyable story for FS and KS1 in the winter, which could also link to learning about seasons in science. It has rhyme throughout which creates fast pace, particularly when reading aloud and this accompanies the speed of the snowball rolling down the hill. There are bright colours and similes to set the scene and aid the descriptions, which could be looked at in English lessons. It’s not too long so it would be suitable for a class story at the end of the day or before lunch.
Snowball by Sue Hendra is a story of a snowball who wants some fun. He decides to venture down to the village but as he was making his way down he became bigger and bigger collecting objects, people and other things along the way. In the end the snowball exploded and then made small snowball friends.
Minus 1 star because I would have liked to know that all the people and the animals were ok after this ordeal. Like at the end everyone wants to go sledding or something? Also everything makes sense but the electric eel. I can see the town, the laundry, and the zoo being scooped up by this snowball... but an electric eel? Don't jump the shark, let's just have fun with it.
This may be a toddler book but my children (ranging in age from 10-15) all enjoyed it with funny illustrations and engaging rhymes. I wish I was still doing storytime--this would be an ADORABLE flannel board.
11/23/21 - This is cute and will definitely teach gravity! And how snow will collect things as it grows. Cute ending as well. Not sure my grandchild will sit for the full thing, but they might. This will live at gma's house. :)
This book is amazing and one of oir favourites! My daugther and I love reading it together. It allows me to change my voice and tone, which she finds really funny. She is the happiest when weread it. 😊 She is just under 2 and I think she will still like it when older.
A snowball takes quite a plummet from the top of a mountain, rolling down and becoming bigger the further he goes! A cleverly delivered poem with bright, exciting illustrations.
Fått tak i 20 julebarnebøker for 20 pund, superkupp. Den første jeg lester er helt råbra. Masse rim og rytme. Og kjempefin ending. Masse humor gjennom hele.
