The Dirty Doctor and Her Assassin

Rate this book
“I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh, Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood.” —Nina Simone

If there’s one thing thirty-one-year-old Jude Carbine has sustained, it’s a hefty appetite for guns, buttah, and family. As the youngest boss in the Carbine hierarchy, he’s spent the better part of his life being a witness to violence and proving to be unscathed. Still, the essence of loneliness and insomnia that lingers at night leads Jude to pick up a side hustle, one that pulls his reputation of being bluntly honest into question and realigns the cocky gunman with someone just as… dirty.

Osage Taylor has always known she would be a doctor. However, she would’ve never believed at thirty-one, she’d be a single mother, unwed, and her family’s personal bank. Despite maintaining a successful medical practice, the ginger-haired beauty finds herself buried under bills and childhood trauma. Nevertheless, being a product of her environment triggers old hustles to feel like solid resolutions… until someone threatens to tell the world where the doctor goes when the hustlers call.

In need of refuge, Osage and Jude can’t seem to rid themselves of their desire for one another once they cross paths. Unbeknownst to them, where there is love, there’s jealousy, and where there is money, there’s a hater in the shadows.

Tucora!!! I have been waiting for Jude’s story, and ma’am you brought the fire! All of the Carbine men are top tier, but bay bee Jude is it! ❤ He is blunt, a hot head, reckless and in your face with all that he does and says! But you love his rude ass, because he is real! Meeting Osage during the first few pages, made me sad! 💔 I hate when young girls have to suffer at the hands of these nothing ass men, just because their momma’s want a man! Ughhhhh…… 🤬 Although Osage was living in a situation that looked and felt hopeless, she dreamed of more! She had aspirations to become a doctor, and she would make her dream come true, come hell or high water! Jude finding Osage on the rooftop, when she felt it was all too much to bear, was fate! He saved her, gave her the encouragement to keep pushing forward, and made her a promise. It made you wonder, would their paths ever cross again? Some 20 years later, Osage has become a doctor, still dealing with family issues is reunited with Jude in an unconventional way!
Osage has her doubts about Jude, as she is scarred from hurt, she has encountered from her past relationship. But Jude was not playing with her at all! He was coming for her, just like he said he would! Jude had never wanted a relationship with a woman. It was only about his family, and money! But when he said he was saving himself for Osage, I saw stars ma’am, I was cheesin’ so hard! A thug teddy bear, come on now! 😍 Well, they both had some thug ways, Miss Osage included! They were such a great pairing, and I loved them together! Hated to see this end! Are there any more Carbine’s hiding in the shadows? Great job! 👍👍👍

Even though I’m reading them out of order, I enjoyed this story a lot. Jude is rude and funny and Osaga is just want he needs. 🥰

Looks like I need to start from the beginning

I absolutely loved this story. It really did read like a fairy tale. Them meeting on that rooftop was kismet. I enjoyed getting to k ow each of the characters. The storyline flowed effortlessly. Jude was a hot head but not over the top with it. I just really enjoyed this and now I need to read about the rest of the family.

An Unconventional Forever 🖤
Jude and Osage’s story was absolutely beautiful! When they first met, he unknowingly saved her life and 20 years later she immediately recognized him while returning the favor. I had a love/hate relationship with Jude’s character while reading this. He was hostile and reckless but you can’t help but to love him and the way he cared for his people.

Jude Will Make You Neva Forget Him!

This author and her pen are absolutely amazing! Connecting her characters had me already familiar with Jude. I had a hard time believing she could find somebody who would put up with Jude Carbine. But babbbyyy sis did that! She had to dig deep in her bag for this woman! Dr. Osage "Red Baby" Taylor. Mama Carbine will sleep better knowing all her boys have real women by their sides! We knew Jude's woman needed more than good 🐈 to make him calm down! 🤣😂 This is sooo highly recommended! #TrueBookLOVERS

The title immediately intrigued me and the story was pretty unique. The book started heavier than I anticipated but the back story played a big role in the character’s development. I liked the plot and storyline. The main heroine wasn’t scared to get her hands dirty, it was a pleasant surprise. Good read.

🥰🥰🥰

Judge and Osage was cute, I wish we could get more from them. Hopefully this isn’t the last book from the Carbine family because I want to see the next phase to Jude and Osages story. Jude was hardheaded and didn’t like to listen and he didn’t understand his actions could hurt his family and he didn’t care he was selfish in a sense and kind of childish. I liked how Osage made him see why his family acted like that, but didn’t see she didn’t owe anything to her family (maybe her brother) but she handle things for him while he was away so that was her gift back to him. Her sister and her man got exactly what they deserved and the BD too! This is a book when you start it you want to finish it in one setting for sure!

Oh My Gooodness I hated to see it end😩😭! I’ve been in love with the Carbines from the beginning, and although they have come to an end (possibly), Jude and Osage were a great closer.
Having met Jude in previous books, I knew there had to be a special kind of woman to catch his attention. I have always had a sweet spot for the youngest Carbine and his recklessness. He and his personality always kept me entertained because, like I always say, I love a reckless mouth man, and Jude Carbine was definitely that!
When we first met Osage at a young age I loved her so much, so after many years seeing she still had that sweet but strong disposition made me fall in love with her and this book even more. These two are honestly the best couple in the series, in my opinion. I have love for the whole family, but these two just hit different, and adding in Juliet, they definitely hit top-tier in my eyes. Now that this series is possibly complete, I can’t wait to see if we have a spin-off or if they will make appearances in future books. Tucora Monique is a beast with the pen, so whatever is next, I’ll be tuned in.

The Dirty Doctor and Her Assassin

From page one, The Dirty Doctor and Her Assassin, grips the readers attention. This is a tale between two souls that build a lifetime connection during one of Osage’s vulnerable moments. Time passes and one day what Jude had done for Osage, she’s able to do for him. The chemistry was pure 🔥. This author has taken this series and … whew! The man that Jude became with a little love was something worth experiencing.
I loved everything about this read, lol. If I had to choose a favorite scene it was Osage showing up to Jude’s 🤣. The author had me ready to jump in the book, lmbo!
This was a great book, Jude just might be my favorite 🤩.
Happy reading 💖

Loved it

Osage's life trajectory was interrupted by a young gangsta, Jude. His interruption turns out to be exactly what she needs. Both lovers are bound to their families by loyalty, but a chance encounter shows them there's room in their hearts for more. Jude's and Osage's personality jumped from the pages. I loved their connection that they built and the connection I felt from them throughout the story.

Jude & Osage!

I loved this story so much. The history between them was so sweet. I love a thug but a thug with a good heart? Baby, im in heaven! Osage had some hood in her and I loved it. She wasn’t afraid to get down and dirty which makes her nickname fitting. This story made me smile and laugh. The family bond and loyalty is everything.

Out of all the couple I loveeeee Jude and Osage the most idk if it’s because the storyline started when they were kids and they met years after. Nonetheless Jude was a bullheaded and just blunt to a cause where anything he said was just funny to me while you have Dr Osage Taylor who could see right through Jude and understand where she gives her loyalty genuinely.

Good

The story was good, but there were too many grammatical errors to rate it higher than three stars. It takes away from the story.

Osage is a doctor with her own practice who is the backbone of her family Holding down her incarcerated brother, supporting her grandmother and cleaning up her sister's mess, plus being a single mom while her daughter's father is also imprisoned is a lot for one person. So she supplements her income by patching up street hustlers who can't always go to a legit hospital when they get injured. One night, she gets called up to save none other than Jude Carbine, her long lost childhood connection whom she never forgot. And he never forgot her.

After Safe to Surrender and Feel Me in the Dark, I couldn't wait to meet Jude. I love a hotheaded younger brother. He was just as brash and arrogant as I imagined and I ate it up. I love the way he dictated his own circumstances, even going away from his family. It was misguided but it reflected his need to control his own life. But I do still love his bond with Preach, Duke, and Iman, and how he made amends when it was time and it mattered. He was careless in some places, but it was his emotions getting the best of him, you could tell.

Osage seemed a bit uptight to me and a bit too judgmental of street life for someone who was waist deep in it herself. But she suited Jude--the calm to his storm. Her relationship with her daughter was good reading and I liked the way she handled business. I loved seeing her talent on display but also loved when she opened up and felt like she could relax. They were a good couple and I liked this book so much.

*Deep Sigh* - This book has been on my TBR for a while now and in the beginning of the story, I was glad I finally picked it up because it was very promising. I immediately liked Osage and Jude, in both their young and adult phases. The chemistry was there, there was exposition and motive for what was happening with and between them...again very promising.

And thennnn - things fell apart. This book for me, fell into the "we're a couple now tunnel vision bubble" that a lot of books fall into. There is good storytelling and character development in all of the parts of the book where the characters aren't actually a couple yet - so in that part of the book, you get a well-rounded story with fleshed-out characters, who live full lives and have hobbies, friends, LIVES outside of their love interests. But the moment the two main characters or love interests "make it official" it's like the world no longer exists outside of each other and all you get is scene after scene of just those two completely and utterly enveloped in each other. Nothing else matters, things stop making sense, storylines stop being fleshed out, ends aren't wrapped up, and things just...fall apart.

[Warning - Mini Spoilers Listed Below]

After Jude and Osage finally reunite and get together, we stop seeing less of her daughter, we don't ever really get a full understanding of the reasoning behind her brothers request. We NEVER find out why he's arrested in the first place, we don't get any background on why all the men and Judes family left the weapons game, Osage never revisits her original dream of being an ER doctor, it just...nothing is answered, addressed, or revisited because we're too busy all up under Jude and Osage's love and lust for one another. And even that isn't done in a way that was entertaining. I prefer my romances to be SHOWN rather than told to me, and Jude and Osage's romance was definitely being told to me.

It got to the point where I was about 84% through the book with not even 50 pages to go and was considering DNF'ing because I just wasn't interested, invested, or entertained anymore.

So all in all for me, this book was a disappointment. Especially because it started off really strong and the ingredients for a really great book were there. The execution was just off for me.

Jude "Mofo'ing" Carbine

Ms. Tucora when I said you put your whole foot into this story, it isn't an understatement. I knew deep in my soul that Jude was going to bring it. He brought the torch and left the baton on the ground. Osage "the dirty doctor" complimented him perfectly. Their past and upbringing made them the hood king and queen. They were meant for each other. Jude may not have come back for Osage when they were younger however he came back into her life at the right time. She needed an aggressive, hard backbone man in her life and corner. I disliked the fact her family used her because she was the one that "made" it. I had more respect for her brother than her sister. Her sister's jealous actions shined brightly. Osage deserved all the love Jude was dishing out. Jude was persistent and it paid off big time. Osage did what other females couldn't do which is plant herself in Jude's heart. She also has life-saving abilities that had to be tested on Mr. Carbine. Jude had to learn a hard lesson with his family. They were always ten toes down and going to look out for him. He was so caught up in his life that once he was forced to take a break he threw a party. Where do they do that at? Who throws a bash to return to work after a break? No one is other than Jude Mofo'ing Carbine.

This a well-written novel that gives you a look into the last Carbine man. I am hoping 🤞🏽that this isn't the last we hear from the Carbine crew. I would love a wedding and expansion of the Jude and Osage family. Princess already took to Juliet. They became "sisters" fast. Adding more siblings to the family would be great. Jude would go from protective to overly protective. If you have not got the opportunity to get into this series, I suggest starting with "Feel Me in the Dark." The crew starts with Preach and each brother follows suit.

Dirty Doctor

The title piqued my curiosity so I basically downloaded this book without knowing the author or what to expect. I was reeled in pretty quickly - the good (dirty) doctor had many layers. I'm not normally one for romances between professionals and thugs, but somehow this worked. It was indeed as if the universe had sealed their fate at first meeting two decades before. And they did save each other, literally (and figuratively, it seems). The doctor and the assasin balanced each other well and each gave the other permission to let go of the unnecessary and cling to what was important. This romance could actually work.
I enjoyed this read and look forward to reading more from this author.
Side note: I wish the cover captured the doctor as described in the book. I was fascinated with the description yet couldn't picture it in my mind. Even an artist's rendition would have sufficed.

jude and osage!

I discovered this book after reading the Sons of Eshu books and seeing Jude pop up in one of them, so I am a little late to the party. Nonetheless i continue to enjoy this author’s storytelling! And Jude and Osage were just what each other needed. I felt the end was a little rushed and wouldve loved more.

My only complaint is there were a few inconsistencies in the text, and it would be like one paragraph apart. For example in one paragraph Jude is driving a mustang and in th next its an Impala. Or Osage mentions her family moving when she turns twenty but next paragraph she says she was 16. I know this is an older book in the catalog so perhaps the editing has improved. But overall would recommend because its an interesting and engaging story.

The Dirty Doctor and Her Assassin

I loved me some Jude and Osage. They balanced each other and gave each other the support they felt they were missing. Osage was not about to let anyone take advantage of her and Jude just wanted to love her. I also liked the bond Jude had with Juliet and with his best friend/niece Eryn. Those two little ladies provided some comedy with their smart mouths and intelligence. Jude was the perfect mix between a gangsta and a gentleman and handled business as needed, but he needed Osage by his side to get him to see things a different way while still having his back.

Osage and Jude💕

Kismet. That is the appropriate way to describe Jude and Osage meeting, reconnecting, and growing in love with one another. While Jude was a bit of a hot head, Osage provided him with a space to feel safe and vulnerable. I think it helped a lot when he was struggling with accepting his family’s response to his behavior. I wouldn’t mind hearing more from them because I feel like there’s so much more to know. How does the relationship progress? Do we get more of his interactions with Juliet? How do these change with Winston home? Will Lavender keep talking? Anywho, I look forward to the next read!

thuggish ruggish Jude & Osage

The Carbines are my mfking family OKAY! And I been waiting on Jude’s story since his hungry wild behind appeared in book 1. Tucora did NOT disappoint. I like how his character remained true to self, but still able to expand his perspective and alter his movements to accommodate loving Osage & Juliet. And the same for our good sis. She didn’t let love turn her into a dummy. She was still that chick! This couple had the perfect balance, if you ask me.

Love ❤️ the Carbines

I love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ the Carbines but Jude 😘was my favorite. The story was wonderful and I could not put it down. Read it in one day.
When he reconnected with his dirty doctor, that 1st date was everything 😈💦🔥
He was exactly what she needed and she had what it took to take the assassin off the market.
I knew that sister and boyfriend were snake s🐍 but I didn’t expect here daughter’s father to be trash 🗑️ too😡

Yes Lawd!

These damn Carbine men!!! I’ve never dated a gangster but these men make me want to rethink my life choices. Jude man be the youngest of the Carbine family, but he is allll man! Osage is woman who doesn’t trust herself when it comes to choosing men,and although she is definitely feeling Jude ,she doesn’t truth him with her heart . Really well written and entertaining love story!

Just what the doctor ordered

This book was so much more loving than I expected. Jude the 11 yr old saves Osage's life only for decades later her is in the position to return the favor. Jude's persistence to capture Osage is sexy. As they fall they bond and get on their Bonnie and Clyde shjt. Their need to slay each others demons is what love should be. Highly recommend Tucora Monique is always nice with her pen.

Amazing

As I knew it would be, this book was amazing. I love Jude and how Osage came in and made him see differently. Although they met one time when they were kids, twenty years later when they found one another, it was as if they didn’t miss a beat. I love the Carbine’s. Tucora did a great job with the execution of this story and I can’t wait to read more. Buy it! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
