This is such a cute, comforting, and rather healing series—I love the Sad Ghost Club! Volume 3 picks up not long after the second with Socks, SG and Rue having faced their anxieties, started their club and recruited new members. I really appreciate that this volume focuses on the way depression and anxiety can manifest itself as periods of great intensity wanting to really create and end up overworking oneself. This is an issue I have struggled with all life long and I found the story of Rue taking on too much work and feeling crushed under the weight of all the labor and expectations—and really struggling when a mistake is noticed—to be quite relatable. I suspect others will too. There is that desire to show you can do things, and the reward of people appreciating your efforts, but then you take on more than you can handle and, instead of feeling achievement, the litany of tasks becomes a burden and anxiety sets in. This was handled very effectively and I really liked the friends recognizing the issue and productively giving aid, encouragement and a space for Rue to realize she was respected, appreciated and also given time and space to process. I also thought the whole plot of supporting a club member’s open-mic performance was really adorable. This series is lovely and I hope there will be more! And as always, make sure to give yourself space and kindness to process your own mental health and check in on your friends! Sad Ghosts forever!

“Sad ghosts forever!!”
I love this series!
In the third instalment, Socks, Sam and Rue have invited more members to join their sad ghost club.
They even have an open mic night event to look forward to. But there is a lot of work that needs doing and sometimes that can become overwhelming.
These graphic novels are so simple and yet so powerful - I really enjoy them.

EN I must confess that I’m no longer enjoying this work as much as I did with the previous volumes, especially the first one.
To me, it’s a good example of a book that turned into a series without really having enough material to sustain such length. I’m already feeling that with this volume and, knowing there’s at least one more, I’ll probably end up not reading it.
The initial concept was excellent, and I really connected with the first volume. But now the narrative has drifted too far from that premise: we’ve got little ghosts socializing in droves, almost as if they’re throwing parties, and that makes me lose part of the connection. I know there are more layers to the story than I can summarize here, but overall, I no longer see myself in it.
Maybe I’m just not a little ghost anymore.

We're somewhere between the complexity of the working world and the benevolence of friends. The subjects are far more complex than they appear.

I love this series. I love seeing the group grow from 1 ghost to 2 ghosts to 3 ghosts and now a whole club of ghosts. I always relate to the stories in this series but especially this story of Rue taking on more than they can handle, getting sucked into the excitement and then burning themselves out and neglecting their own needs and responsibilities. I will say I was frustrated with SG being OBLIVIOUS to Rue struggling, but I'm happy with how the conflict was resolved and I'm proud of Sock's growth and development as a character.

Another amazing, heart warming and cute volume of The Sad Ghost Club, with incredible artwork. I cannot wait for more volumes from Lize.

4/5 ⭐

4/✨ for The Sad Ghost Club Vol. 3.
I think we're all familiar with the idea of keeping ourselves constantly busy so we don't have to deal with our emotions. Until we've taken on too much and the smallest setback suddenly becomes the thing that breaks us.
These graphic novels are so good at translating big emotions and mental struggles into beautiful, accessible stories that these little ghosts somehow make you feel incredibly seen.
I'm eventually going to buy the entire series physically so my kids can read them too. The little life lessons at the heart of these books are just so incredibly valuable.

Dostarcza dużo wsparcia, zrozumienia, troski i nadziei.
