The book contains some nice statements about mother-daughter relationships. However, I was disappointed that every story felt shallow. My relationship with my mother runs deep, so I was hoping this book would explore similarly profound connections.

“Each experience told in this book made me look back at memories when I was a kid, and I wished my mom or grandma could tell me such comforting words. Losing this comfort experience was fine, as nothing could be worse than living like hell with an ill-hearted aunt who had no maternal instinct.” ~ Chen Pink, reviewer of ‘A Cup of Comfort for Mothers and Daughters’

The story to which I could relate the most in this book was “Leaving” and some of these lines by Ramona John resonated with me:

“I see her smile in my memory. I hear the echo of her thoughts in my own. I find her love when I love others. I feel Mother always by my side. And I know this: Love is a very agreeable passion, and sometimes it is stronger than death."

Excellent collection of heart warming and mother/daughter relationship enlightening shorts. This collection touches all the feels. Having 5 daughters, 7 granddaughters, and a great granddaughter these stories are all pretty relatable. This would make a great gift for your Mom, daughter, aunt, or BFF.

Add this to the did not finish pile. Not finishing a book I've started is very hard for me. So sad too. I mean how do you screw up tea? I thought it would be a nice book for my daughter and I to read together. 100+ pages in and we both had had enough. Too cheesy. Too new age-y. Too much that conflicts with our Christian beliefs.

I found some stories so relatable that now I sort of understand my own mother. I am excited to grow older and getting to know her more. Every daughter should read this just so we could all have a better sense of appreciation for our mothers.

I gave each of my daughter's this book one year for Christmas. It contains short stories about the relationships between mothers and daughters. Enjoy.
