This was a good collection of 18 erotic stories, which where overall very well written and presented. There was no particular theme to the book as opposed to other erotic short stories I have read & as with any collection of mixed short stories there will always be some you like or don’t. The erotica (overall) was just right; nothing to vague but nothing sleazy either (depending on the readers taste).
Although there where a couple very close to the bone that really didn’t float my boat.

I’ve broken the stories of what I liked down.

The ones I particularly liked were:
‘This Old Bed’ by Madeline Oh - it was certainly an unusual story about a bed designed for BDSM although nobody but Luke (Marie’s lover) knew this. The rest is up to the reader’s imagination.
‘Tara’s Stew’ by Michelle Bouche - Male chef takes over head females role & they get it on, predictable but it was still quite fun.
‘The Mark’ by Helena Settinana - Underground shenanigans but highly explicit. This one surprised me a bit as it didn’t follow the trajectory of the rest of the book.
‘A Girl’s Gotta Have Friends’ - Prudish (virgin) bride-to-be gets hot & heavy with her bestie/bridesmaid on her wedding day. This was smartly written & I enjoyed this one.

My three favourites where: ‘Infidelities’ by G. L. Morrison. A second wife (originally mistress) who sleeps with her husband’s new mistress after realising he’s now having an affair. Quirky & cleverly written. ‘The Heart in my Garden’ by Carol Queen - an overworked, happy(ish) married couple on different paths. Husband enjoys his porn when working on computer, wife comes home early on Valentines Day & the spark is reignited. Again, erotic but not sleazy & every couple ever been through a rocky patch will get this.
‘Pilegesh’ by Lisa Prosmino - younger girl with older man wants more from relationship & makes sure the pregnancy he doesn’t want happens. You get the gist.

I disliked ‘Sukreswara’ by Kristine Haws. I felt it disrespectful to Buddhism. I also disliked ‘Contented Clients’ by Kate Dominic. Infantilism & fetishes don’t do it for me & unfortunately it was one of the longer stories. ‘The Language of Snakes’ by Susannah Indigo about a mute woman who can’t speak after her relationship ends bonds sexually with her snakes. Again, not for me. After four I didn’t like or had mixed opinions too, in a row, I did consider giving the book up, however, it did get better as it progressed. I also didn’t like ‘Tic Sex’ by Debra Hyde. It was supposed to be a sexy version of a couple where one had Tourette’s. Maybe this one was just too close to home as my brother has severe Tourette’s (after an accident) so it left me cold. I really hated ‘Waste’ by Lisa Glatt. Again comes under my fetish dislike but no, somethings don’t need to be visualised, especially urine. I didn’t even finish this one. I also didn’t care for ‘Jack’ by Cara Bruce. Bloke splits with girl & is actually transgender & they make love in shower after confessing their love for one another. I’m on the fence with this one to be honest.

I think the one I HATED. Yes I’d go that far was ‘Wages of Faith’ by Michelle Scalise. Morally corrupt I’d go as far to say. Interbreeding with snakes and spawning snakelets. Just wrong on every level. This was more cult than erotica & really made me disgusted.

The okay stories where:
‘The Best Revenge’ by Emily Holly - Twilight - for adults. Bit predictable.
‘Climbing The Wall’ by Sacchi Green - lesbian frolicking in the mountains.
‘Devotion’ by Natasha Rostova - basically a sex-deprived nun getting off.
‘Hair’ by Hanne Blank - old man, younger women, nothing overly dramatic.
‘Rope Burn’ by Anne Tourney - was the gymnast a ghost? - who knows. It was alright. I didn’t dislike it, just wondered what it was alluding too.
‘After Loss’ by Tabatha Flyte - Main character sleeps with her brother-in-law after a death in family. Not sure if this is really common but it was still a good story.

‘Branded’ by Rebecca Kissel & ‘The Survey’ by Mary Anne Mohanraj, I questioned the point of. They where just too short & I felt them a bit insignificant in this collection. However, as mentioned the reader will hate some, like others and everyone’s taste is different but I probably would read another ‘Best Women’s Erotica’ again.
