Bruce Lee may have been a strong and fast fighter, but he is always about the show. The techniques here are half complete because they assume everyone to be a competent fighter when defending themselves. The reality is much muckier and organic. The tit-for-tat instructions are ridiculous and once again only emphasize Lee's abilities and showmanship. There are more effective ways to defend against the demonstrated attacks, and they don't always have to do with hurting the other person. It is also possible to defend oneself with the aim of controlling the situation (and the assailant) rather than jabbing an assailants eyes. Such extreme counterattacks should only be a last resort. Otherwise what makes the defender any better than the assailant?

And stepping out of a weapon's reach is horrible advice. When someone has a weapon you sidestep and rush into the assailant's attack zone. You don't step out of reach and grab and kick... You go in, protecting your flank and striking your opponent's centerline. You keep the assailant in check by controlling the weapon arm and disrupting the balance.

Don't try these techniques to your partner! Di sparring kumite full contact pernah saya coba salah satu teknik ini dan berhasil - banyak karateka yang tidak sadar dan tidak terlatih lalu tumbang kalau sudah terkena salah satu teknik di atas. Use with cautious!

Evidently the Bruce Lee fighting method could be summed up as don't ever get hit. The instructions are obviously a point of departure. The good here would include a series of moves that need to be practiced and put together as the situation requires. The trouble with practicing Lee's methods exactly move by move is that it goes against his entire philosophy. He taught that fighting style cannot be so ridged that it doesn't allow adaptation to each individual scenario. To copy these moves exactly in a real life situation would require the speed and skill of Bruce himself.

The relentless kung fu master personally espoused his traditional fighting methodology in an expansive collection of combat instruction. Security officers often read this guide as a default because it entertainingly combines advanced combat training with ponderous ideations directly from the legendary popular culture icon. This book is not reserved for martial arts enthusiasts; instead, it has achieved cult popularity among security professionals.

This was a useful read with a lot of great advice, but many of the techniques won't be effective unless you're faster than your attacker(s). However, the basics are something everyone can benefit from, and I appreciated the many different types of attacks included.

Bruce Lee was such an amazing martial artist. This series of books really helps expand your mind and help you become a better martial artist yourself. Even more than 3 decades later these books are still very relevant.

Though these books have a few interesting and useful techniques, most are covered in volume I. The rest tend to quickly grow either repetitive, extremely specialized, or a combination of the two.
