Perfectly Incompatible By Kathryn Anne Dubois Michael Mulcahy, successor to a long line of NYC cops, has learned enough from his brothers' mistakes to know that Libby Crowne Vandermark, a fellow FBI agent and former debutante from the Upper East Side, is all wrong for him. He just needs to slake his relentless lust for her. This undercover operation, where they pose as a married couple at a "second honeymoon" spa, is the perfect excuse to do it. Libby can't believe she's stuck with Neanderthal Mulcahy. Having grown up with three chauvinist brothers and a dominant father, she goes out of her way to avoid men like him. If she can just keep her eyes off him while they're together, every day and night, she'll get through this. But the spa is not what it seems. And it turns their struggle to torture. Until they realize just how perfectly incompatible they are.
Kathryn Anne Dubois lives the demanding life of a mother of five, a wife of 30+ years, and a public school art teacher. What better reason to escape into the delicious fantasy world of writing romantica. Reviewer Lani Roberts of Affair de Coeur Magazine has this to say of Kathryn. “Kathryn Anne Dubois makes her debut…with such sexual intensity that the readers will definitely cry for more.” Kathryn was first published in 1999 with Virgin Publishing’s Black Lace Line whose publisher’s claim “only the most arousing fiction makes it into a Black Lace - erotica at the cutting edge written by women for women” and later with Red Sage’s Secrets and still writes for both publications. She is pleased to have joined the wonderful authors of Ellora’s Cave. Kathryn has been an active member of Romance Writers of America since 1998 and lives in the greater Philadelphia area.
Pretty good erotic romance, although more a romance than erotica, which was perfectly fine. Had a pretty good plot that held my interest and made me keep reading. Basically about two FBI agents who start out not liking each other but fall in lust, then love, while working together undercover. Some very steamy moments; however, lots of character and plot development and not just pages and pages of sex. Some surprising twists and turns along the way, but ultimately a satisfying HEA. I really liked it--it was an easy read and worth my time! :)
There was a lot more story and romance than I was expecting in this book and that mane me a very happy reader. Libby and Michael are both FBI agents. They are even farther apart from opposites than you can imagine. They do not speak to each other and Michael has requested that they not be assigned to work together. One day, their luck runs out and they are assigned to go undercover at a resort as husband and wife. Michael eventually seduces Libby while on assignment and admits (only to himself) that he has real feelings for Libby. This is about the time all of the twists and turns come into play. I must admit that I didn't see a lot of the twists that were thrown into this book. They were perfect for the story and kept you riveted. I would have liked to have seen a little more communication between Michael and Libby as thier love kind of came out of nowhere. All in all, I'm happy that I picked this book up on a whim and would gladly read more from this author.
