The Joyful Mysteries of Life

Rate this book
Written by Catholic parents for their own children, this book introduces the "facts of life" to pre-teens in a reverent and respectful manner by presenting the biological facts in the context of meditations on the joyful mysteries of the Rosary. Chastity is shown to be the Christian way of living out God's will as it encourages an attitude of reverence for the mysteries of procreation. Illustrated.

A family member shared this with me as my children are approaching age of reason. As a convert I wanted something firm in the Catholic faith to share with them about how God created our bodies & the beauty of it all. These explanations are simple, to the point, & include the Faith. There’s also discussion questions at the end of each chapter.

Overall fits its function. Not terribly striking though. A few spots where the word choice leaned more "purity culture" than I would prefer.

So glad I bought this, and I might still bump my review up to a 5. I have never seen a book that is so lovely and gentle in its presentation, with language that would feel most natural to me. Beautifully embeds biological facts with spiritual ones. Definitely worth owning to refer back to and glad I bought it when my kids are young. My questions come from wondering how people use this in practice and for what ages. Some of the language is kind of quaint, but that could be because it is translated. But I really do recommend and will use this for sure.

Very Good presentation on being a young Catholic in today's world while trying to maintain morality and purity.
