This made me realize how over-estimated Mr. Marley is. Though I think he made wonderful, powerful music, I feel he didn't have the great, intelligent character that people seem to think.

This book presents an introduction to some of the words and thoughts of Bob Marley, mostly from his mid-career years. It provides a good overview of "Bob talking" for anyone who is not already familiar with his music and interviews and who never saw the man or knew much about him when he was on earth (particularly those persons who were born in the next generation). However, too much of the book is devoted to musical production rather than the content of Bob's music, although there is some of that also. There are a few quotations about Bob's Rastafari beliefs but most of those quotes are from the early years before Bob's faith reached the maturity and deep understanding that he expressed in lyrics found in the later albums, such as Uprising.
