Barth

Rate this book
According to Eberhard Busch, Karl Barth's theology is "characterized by being...in constant movement and transformation." And a Christian's path is marked by self-correction in order to learn how to live out the same thing again and again in a better and more appropriate way. Likewise the church, like her God, is always on the move.

This brief book (95 pages) is a very helpful introduction to the life and work of Karl Barth by the man known as the dean of contemporary Barth scholars. Barth’s life is considered in three periods. This is followed by an introduction to some of the central insights of Church Dogmatics. The book (generally) succeeds in capturing some the power of Barth’s theological acumen.

A great introduction to Barth and a good companion for one’s journey into the Church Dogmatics. For less than 90 pages, this packs a punch.

The book that introduced me to Barth. I might have given it 5 stars due to more sentimental reasons.
