The Christians

Rate this book
Whether he was God, or man, or myth, one thing is certain about Jesus Christ; no one has had a greater influence on human history. And no single strand traces such an intriguing pattern through the past 2,000 years, involves so many different cultures, brings in such varied are and architecture, or explains so much that is familiar and half-familiar as the story of the Christians.

Picked this up in a charity shop without knowing what to expect. I was totally blown away and completely immersed by the storylike quality of this book. The commentary at the end is thought provoking, and offers an unbiased approach to such a delicate topic. I really love this book and will for sure come back to read it again. Totally recommend

A very good book.

I like the way that it rattles along - concerned more with the broad sweep of history rather than the minutiae. Particularly impressive are the photos - worth getting for these alone. I would recommend to anyone with an interest in Christianity.

This is a very rich book in Christian history... I will call it an academic masterpiece for someone digging into truths about Christianity.

This is a great adjunct to the 1970s 13 part television series. This book is entertaining and so easy to read -and beautifully illustrated.

A wonderful read and a very sympathetic look into Christianity and other religions and atheism since the New Testament.
