I read most of this volume at the Y while I was working out, and it was hard to not bust out laughing in many places. And thus, for hilarity, this volume gets a 4 star rating. Behold some of the best parts:

My favorite part about this one is the caption alongside the panel which says: Illustration by a mangaka with 20 years experience XD Hilarious!!

Haha... the best part about this one is the woman in the bottom left corner saying "He wrote it in tears."

Despite some of the more questionable and skeevy elements, I found myself liking this volume of Chou yo Hana yo. Maybe it was because the heroine isn't a completely spineless office lady, or that the relationship dynamics are actually unique for this genre, or just that Yuki Yoshihara is good with comedic timing and has a often hilarious looking art style that fits those comedic moments. Also, [doge voice] wow so steamy very woo hoo much censored naked bits.

Well, this will be my last Yoshihara book. I may just not be sophisticated enough for her mixture of titillation between adults and slapstick humor. Other works that I have sampled in scanlation all seem to be built to the same model.

The heroine and hero finally consummate their love - and I do have to admit that Yoshihara knows how to draw a sexy sex scene - and then they fall back into their old behaviour RIGHT away and another new character is introduced for artificial handicap between the two.

Still, if you want to read some smutty manga - I can recommend this series much higher than any of the shoujo smut that was licensed. You do NOT have a doormat heroine in the clutches of any male predator who dares to intimidate or blackmail her.

These are grown-ups, so really: if smutty, one-note manga is your taste right now, do get this josei one.

If you want a more complex examination of the love life of adults, how about Tramps Like Us? If you want a great general soap opera of young adults how about Nana? Or the shorter Paradise Kiss?

This manga was an okay read. If it wasn't a manga, but in fact a novel, I might have DNFed it. But because it is a manga and therefore a really quick read, I read it rather slowly for me. Though that was because I was reading 4 other books at the same time, on multiple different formats: one audiobook, two paperback, and one e-Book. It did mean that out of all the books that I was reading it was the book that I was reading second to last. Though I did end up reading it first in comparison to the other 4 books but that is because it is a 200 paged manga, rather than a 600 paged novel.

The plot for me is starting to go a bit downhill. There's no real driving force anymore since the main couple have gotten together. The last volume had the obstacle of a woman trying to get Masayuki, and this novel was just the lead up to the couple finally having sex. The last part of the volume is set up with the revelation of who the president is. The plot was just mediocre and average.

In regards to the characters, we're not seeing that much development. We're barely seeing any development in the relationship as well other than them having sex. The characters are making proclamations that they love each other, and they mean a lot to each other, and I wasn't really feeling it in this book. I did in the last two... but this book... not as much.

Overall, this volume has me feeling rather mediocre about the series. I don't think I will be continuing with it any time soon if I can help it. There are just other books that I am looking forward to reading more. But seeing as I have the whole series I will be completing it eventually.

Good volume. Interesting developments. Funny. Masayuki is growing on me, although he's too much at times. I enjoyed reading this. Glad I have the rest of the series with me.

This is a pretty good series. The art is good, and there are some funny parts and some tender parts. I do like that Choko, though in a love triangle of sorts, is not torn between who to choose. I do wish the other guys in the series would not try and creep on her however...

I had to stop at so many points to laugh, squeal, or flap my hands for a second XD This volume did not disappoint. I thought it was funny, heartfelt, tender, silly, stupid, and so much fun. This josei is really, really something special.

Choko’s memories of her childhood expand as she remembers another young boy who worked alongside the adults, a pretty boy whose name she cannot recall. When she asks Masayuki about him, her employer/boyfriend says he does not recall him. He then deflects her by asking about whether she has had her period since the ill-fated night upon which their relationship was not consummated due to technical difficulties. Is he being thoughtful, or sneaky?

When Masayuki mentions her being in her menses at the office, Choko wants to die. She is working in reception when the elevator opens and she accidentally collides with the person who exits – only to discover the long-lost young servant she had just been thinking of, all grown now and nice looking! Will wonders never cease! He is now the president of a famous talent agency. As Choko serves tea to him and the President, she asks him if he remembers Domoto, who was once called Yoshida. He does, and at that moment who should step into the office but the man himself. Recognition is quite mutual between them, and Masayuki goes into instant protective mode with Choko, when the other man, Jinguku, invites her to dinner. Choko doesn’t like this one little bit, especially when he pulls her aside for a private conversation, so she agrees to dinner, but forbids Masayuki to come with them, wounding him with her cruel words. When Jinguku reveals his true nature to her, who will she turn to?

When Choko comes down with a slight fever, Masayuki, Jinguku and Mikihiko fight over who will take care of her. But bigger problems brew – Choko’s father’s back is bothering him so much he cannot work, and her mother wishes both that Mikihiko could cook the soba for his father, and that she had two more male staff to help out with serving the tables . . . or the restaurant might just fail! With such unsubtle manipulation, how can the three men not step up to the plate? While Mikihiko cooks, Masayuki and Jinguku play butler (and they look very nice, I’m here to tell you). Jinguku has not recognized Mikihiko up until now, as he was still very young when he worked for the family. In the meantime, Choko feels even worse, as Masayuki discovers, and when he goes to administer her medicine to her, he discovers that it is a suppository. Oops! When Suou reveals information that Choko was previously unaware of, her fears that Masayuki will leave her get out of hand.

Choko is nervous as she and Masayuki take their first overnight trip together. She is also happy at being with him, but as he carries her into his family’s vacation home, they discover that they are far from alone – Makie, Suou and Jinguku are already there, and Mikihiko has stowed away as well. Masayuki’s well laid plans are more than foiled, and the gullible Mikihiko is in for his own shock – the naïve boy has yet to figure out that Suou is no lady. But if Suou shows up in a swim suit, the truth will be impossible to conceal! Masayuki has his hands full, keeping all eyes and hands off of his Choko, and he is frustrated. When Choko catches him alone, swimming in the pool, their passion rises to the point where they decide it’s time to consummate their relationship – but first they need to slip past the others.

Synopsis:

Choko Kuze is in love with her ex-servant-now-tyrannical-boss Masayuki Domoto. She's had a hard time getting him to see her as a woman, but between bouts of treating her like a genteel lady and an entry-level office grunt, he's slowly starting to come around. Now that they're dating, Choko and Masayuki go on their first overnight trip together. Will the two be able to add to their relationship a new role--that of lovers?

My Thoughts:

This volume starts out with Choko meeting another blast from her past. Benten Estates has used some actors from a talent agency in one of their commercials and the president of that talent agency just happens to be Reibun Jungei another child of former servants of the Kuze family. Masayuki does not like having this guy around at all. They fight over Choko a bit, but Choko will always choose Masayuki over any other man. She loves him too much. Even if he is weird. And Masayuki is seriously weird. The things that come out of that man's mouth sometimes...

When Choko and Masayuki take an overnight trip alone, they're shocked to find Reibun, Suou, Makie and Mikihiko there. Poor, dumb, Mikihiko. Choko's baby brother finally has his eyes opened with regards to Suou. I think he's decided to remain deluded about that, though. Masayuki isn't happy everyone showed up like that, but things end up going well for them after all. It turns Masayuki into even more of a sex hound though and it drives Choko nuts. So when Makie asks her for a favor to go on a group date with her, Choko accepts. She meets a scary man while she's there, though... I was shocked to find out who he was! Masayuki better watch his back! He does love Choko, though. He keeps proving that. She even if he is a pervert, I can always forgive him, same as Choko.

Kata-kata pun…

Nah, di volume ini meskipun liburannya Choko sama Masayuki diganggu oleh kehadiran orang-orang itu, nyatanya mereka tetep aja berhasil melakukat their first make a love. Buset. Ngeri juga bacanya. Maksudnya kalau berbentuk tulisan gitu masih bisa lah baca, kalau liat gambar komiknya rasanya pengen ngelempar ini komik. Untuk nggak vulgar amat. Tapi, I am not such a person who likes see that thing for real, lebih baik Cuma membayangkan aja. (?)

Ini komik direkomendasikan buat yang tahan sama komik dewasa, sedikit serial cantik dan karakter yang lebay plus mesum. Haha,

This volume focuses on the deepening of the relationship between Choko and her "Cha-chan", and Yoshihara reveals all of her girl's manga trope skills. There's an irresistible sweetness in the couple's first time that the more cynical side of you will want to roll your eyes at, but the romantic part of you keeps going because it's just that well done / enjoyable / you like the characters that much and have been rooting for them. There's still the same air of silliness here, but the sweetness that tempers it makes it the very definition of a guilty pleasure for me. Honestly, in retrospect, the series, with a bit of retooling, could have ended here, but we still have 5 more volumes to go!

*ahem* this one was a bit steamier and sexier, graphic for some, but the plot seems to be moving with an introduction of two new characters. I really like Suou and this President guy seems to be a scumbag (reminds me of the President in B.O.D.Y) and Masayuki goes from lecherous and silly to mean but gentle.

Humorous and heartwarming, but oh my! oh my oh my oh my! I had to flip through some pages awfully fast and with a slight blush upon my face. I knew that it was going to be more mature than the previous volumes, but I had not prepared myself for that level. Well, I guess I can prepare myself properly for the subsequent volumes. The actual story is still cute.

Sexy volume! Still improving. I enjoyed the humor more in this volume. Author attempts some emotional scenes but they have less effect with the surrounding zaniness.

This was indeed a steamy volume. But I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. But I was laughing hard because of some of the sexual jokes. Maybe it's my inner perv, but I really liked those!
