My first Pohl read. The story was nothing special - the usual sci-fi premise including overpopulation, humanity expanding it's influence in the solar system and an alien race that left artefacts before they disappeared without a trace. I enjoyed it and the way it ended even though the characters did not have the chance to be developed properly. It is understandable since it is a short story after all. The sarcasm and dark humor were there and I see why Pohl is famous for it. Hopefully it is in greater quantity in his other work.
Looking forward to picking up something else from the author at some point
