Little Bamton #3

Summer Nights and Pillow Fights

Rate this book
Eve Grey is divorced, the wrong side of forty and dreading her only son leaving for college in the autumn. Still, she has one last summer planned with him in Little Bamton, and she’s determined to make the most of it. At least, that’s the plan until Davy’s father rocks up and tempts him away with the promise of sun, sea and sand. Eve’s summer stretches away in front of her…

She’s alone for the first time in 18 years…
The house feels strangely empty…
And there’s something about the summer air that’s making her feel decidedly fidgety.

All it takes is one particularly rowdy book club session to set her on a new and exciting path!

Finn Casey is hoping his visit to Little Bamton might help him get over his writer’s block. It was his editor’s idea to take a painting course in an attempt to get inside his new hero’s head. Unfortunately, the village just provides him with a whole new set of distractions . . .

His quietly beautiful new art teacher . . .
The fact that his bedroom just happens to be right next to hers . . .
And his editor’s not helping matters by phoning every hour of the day (and night) asking for updates on the manuscript.

Will Eve open up enough to let new love in? Will Finn finally manage to step into his hero’s shoes and win the girl? Or is this particular love story doomed to remain unwritten?

A warm, summer read full of fun, romance and laughter! For fans of Holly Martin, Polly Babbington and Heidi Swain. Summer Nights and Pillow Fights is the third standalone novella in the Little Bamton series.

I am really enjoying the Little Bamton series as the year unfolds and we have the chance to follow more of the residents lives to see what unexpected delights might occur.
The books are written with a fast-paced energy which keeps the stories racing along, as even the minor characters all have interesting enough lives to hold the attention during a temporary pause in the main plot.
I can’t wait to read the next books in the series.

This is a brilliant series and gets you so hooked straight away as so well written. It’s full of romance and starting life again after the son leaves and shows how friends can support you. Well worth reading.
Eve has got this summer with her son before he goes off to uni but when his dad encourages him to go away in the son he goes and she’s left alone in a big house. Her friends support her and say she should open a B&B and offer art classes so she decides to go ahead and with in minutes someone is booking on it but the demands they want make her wander if she should do it but when Finn arrives she can’t believe how good looking he is. She starts the art course making new friends who stay in her house as well but she’s drawn to Finn every time and she soon gives in but when he gives her a secret and the next day it’s been leaked and he thinks it’s her he has to leave quickly will they be able to sort the problem out and be happy or not.

The book was predictable, because first: I knew already that Finn is FC Chase by his reaction to Betsy’s admiration letter for the author, but however; I didn’t expected that Laura, one of Eve’s best friend was the one who spilled to the media that Finn is FC Chase. Overall, it was a rollercoaster ride!

Lovely third book in a series set in the cute village of Little Bampton.
Eve the art teacher sets up a week long course when her son leaves for an unexpected holiday in Greece... Will there be romance? Will there be danger? And who will Wilf be kissing by the end of the novel?

It's a lovely and enticing read. Worth a cup of tea and a bar of chocolate.

If you're looking for a cozy escape, check out Summer Nights and Pillow Fights by Beth Rain. I loved little Bamton, and wished it was real! The townspeople really pulled together to take care of their own, and the quirky characters were all so different from one another. Definitely worth reading! You don't have to read the series in order but I recommend it. Also makes for a perfect summer read.

I am enjoying this series of light and lovely short novels. The town and the characters are delightful and the plots are fun.

Eve is feeling lonely after her son goes away for the Summer. Deciding to rent out her home to teach art workshops, she meets author Finn. They’re instantly smitten with each other but things get complicated when his author alias is outed in the press. Personally, I thought this was a nice, easy read. So it was a shame that I found too much of it unrealistic and even quite confusing towards the end (too many characters shoved in my face all at once). I just sometimes find these sort of stories too much of an eye-roll. So a cosy romance but not much else.

Such a beautiful story. A perfect escape to Devon returning to Little Bamton where a warm welcome awaits. There are lots of favourites from the previous books but a host of new characters doing a residential art course. I wanted to join in with the art in this idyllic village location. Everyone in the village helps each other, such a family feel to it. Wilf, the westie just stole my heart. Just can't help but smile throughout. A heartwarming, uplifting read.

I've just discovered Beth Rain's Little Bamton series and this book was such a fun read, for once the description of romcom is accurate. But I seriously wonder about the author's sanity when she had her character, Betsi, drink FIVE pints of scrumpy one evening. No, no, no, she’d be legless, and this is from personal experience - but not 5 pints.

5 Star rating, losing 1* for dangerous scrumpy consumption:)

A light, feel-good, fun read.

I enjoyed returning to Little Bamton to catch up with the characters. It feels like visiting old friends. The small village setting and it's residents is charming.

The mix of personalities in the art class was fun. I love books where a random group of people end up together.

Summer Nights and Pillow Fights is a nice, uplifting story.

A sweet romance set in a village with likable characters, an artistic retreat which includes both locals and visitors of different ages and romance may be in the air for more than one couple. An easy and satisfying read for an afternoon.

This was a really easy book to get into, and I read it in a couple of sittings. I have to confess I clocked who Finn was very early on, but that just made it all the more enjoyable.
