Little Miss Wise is beyond her years. She can also see what others are about and she doesn’t take part which means she is constantly telling people no so she can stay out of trouble. She begins to feel sad and lonely and decides to say yes anyway to whatever wacky thing people around her say. She meets Mr. Mischief and he gives her a present. Instead of saying no, knowing it won’t be good, she accepts the gift and it’s full of sneezing powder and she sneezes the rest of the day.

It’s an interesting lesson. I guess the moral is sometimes we have to deal with the inconvenience of people or risk living all alone. That’s what I get from it. This one felt more rushed and less finished compared to other’s I’ve read.

Again, the nephew didn’t want to read this. He loved that Mr. Mischief gave her sneezing powder and he laughed at her sneezing. He gave it 2 stars for that scene. He only likes the Mr. Men, but we’re going to finish this series before he gets much older. He might hate them all, but I’m going to finish it.

Little Miss Wise is as wise as an owl ,,, possibly two owls.

She brushed her teeth every day, she made her bed every day, she tidied her house every day, and did lots of other wise and sensible things.

She used to go for a walk every day and on one of her walks she met Miss Naughty who wanted her to jump in some puddles with her, but, being wise, she didn't want to get her feet wet so she declined.

Then she met Miss Greedy who wanted her to eat some cake filled with cream and smothered in pink icing but, being wise, she refused because she did not want an upset stomach.

On successive days she refused to get into Mr Busy's racing car because she did not want an accident and she declined to go into Mr Messy's house because she would get dirty. But, she was so kind as not to tell Mr Messy the reason why she didn't venture in.

On the Friday she did not want to play tennis with Mr Silly even though there was nothing silly about a game of tennis.

By the end of the week she was downcast because refusing all her friends meant that she would very quickly have no friends. So she decided to change and immediately she met Mr Mischief who wanted to give her a present. She was about to say 'No' when she remembered what she had decided to do, so she changed her mind and accepted the present. The parcel contained sneezing powder and she used 199 handkerchiefs in trying to stop sneezing; how unwise of her to accept!

Finally she met Mr Nonsense who asked her to go for a ride in his aeroplane. Again she was about to say no but changed her mind. This could be considered unwise but fortunately his aeroplane had no wings, no engine and no wheels ... it was a doormat! Have you ever heard such nonsense, Miss Wise, hadn't!

Ah, Mr Men and Little Miss, how wonderful you are!

These books made up so much of my childhood. No matter what I would go ahead and pick one up. I worked my way through them all a couple of times. Each one has a wonderful story for the child to engage with, each character being fun to read.

Everyone has a bias for their favourite character, yet every book is delightful.

I absolutely loved these Mr Men and Little Miss books. I remember getting them from my granny every week. There was so much from these simple characters, I remember filling my little bookshelf with all these books making sure I had got them all in right order. I wish I still had these books but somehow most of them got lost with many house moves or my mum gave the rest away. If I ever have kids, I will make sure they get the chance to experience these wonderful, colourful books.

To me Little Miss Wise isn't very wise at all. At first it was a case of not living, which she was wise enough to figure out, but then to do the opposite and say yes to everything isn't wise at all. And she learns her lesson ten-fold. Perhaps she is wise but then she definitely isn't sensible about it. Perhaps we need a bit of both. Hopefully by the end of it she has learned that lesson, for though it seems like she may have, we have no indication of that.

Got this today with the newspaper. Little Miss and Mr Men always enchant me. Little Miss Wise is no disappointment. The colours and pictures are beautiful too.

Little Miss Wise
Rating: 3 stars
Reason behind rating:
This book is enjoyable but it isn't really the type of book I want to read now that I'm 19. That isn't to say if that if your child is just learning to read that they won't love it to the moon and back. Just that this is no longer my favourite book now that I can read properly.

Younger me though would thoroughly recommend this book to young girls who are learning to read and just want a short story to read before bed.

It's funny and relatable with decent drawings that aren't overly complicated but don't look tacky for being simple. It's a good little book!

It's a Little Miss book, and this one little mIss Wise - her name wasn't mentioned when people accused the author of being sexist, anyway, this was another fine title in the prolific series.

Above comments are correct, although the whole Hargreaves was sexist rubbish seems to have gone away for a while but some nut-job will bring it back, meanwhile I'll keep on enjoying the show!

I remember these books from when I was a kid and dug the idea of it being a collectable series, but didn't really remember anything about the stories. Surprisingly, this one doesn't really have much in the way of a lesson in terms of the character's signature trait. The story is mostly just inconsequential nonsense. I can't really tell if I think that's cool as opposed to pedantic moralizing or or just a lazy approach to children's entertainment and development.

Because Mr Nonsense's aeroplane
doesn't have any wings,
or an engine,
or even wheels.

It's just a doormat.

Have you ever heard of such nonsense!

Lol, though really ther should be a question mark there.

Little miss wise always goes on walks. She always sees persons and they ask her to do somethings and she says no. One day, she decides to say yes because if she says no to them they would not be her friends so she said yes.

This book had a lot of potential to share some very important lessons, but fell short every time. Not the most productive of the Little Miss books.

Little Miss Wise is lauded throughout this book for her wise decisions, saying no to people when she foresees that a proposed activity would have a negative consequence: for example she refuses to accept cake from Little Miss Greedy because she didn't want an upset stomach.

And, being such a wise person, Little Miss Wise is aware that saying no all the time may upset people. So one day Little Miss Wise ignores her gut instinct and starts saying yes to everything -- succumbs to peer pressure, if you will -- and immediately suffers negative consequences.

Don't listen to peer pressure, kids. Listen to your gut.

A rather boring character but an extra star for the much anticipated return of Mr Messy.
