This has always been a popular for who doesn't hope when they are young that Santa will remember them and I think the story can more or less resound with those who live in giant apartment complexes or similar-type homes that are hard to find. And although the Christmas spirit may be in you it just cannot replace that feeling when you are overlooked no matter the age.

The other thing that speaks out to me with this book is the neighbors, which seem to be a harder and more rare blessing to find. Growing up we had neighbors who we could rely on like family and who helped us to celebrate the holidays or saw us off to school. In this growing and evil world that is one thing that I truly miss the most.

Now enough of my nostalgic memories and rants I find that the writing is easy enough for young readers who may want to attempt to read this book with some help of course. Others who still may be too young will most definitely enjoy the pictures or even help to put some of the tree decoration tips into practice.

All in all if you are looking for a great and wonderful book to share with your family for the holiday and one that isn't based on religion this would be a good one to start with.

Adorable! I'd never read this Christmas-themed Little Golden Book before and it was such a treat! I loved the colorful and cute illustrations of the families who live in this big, beautiful tree in the forest. The story felt cozy and had a lovely ending. I especially loved seeing the double page layout of the animal families all working on making and attaching the Christmas ornaments or decorations. So happy to have this Christmas book!

My sister and I read this *every year* when we were children. It makes me feel like I am drinking cocoa with marshmallows. If you are looking for a wonderful, somewhat nostalgic feeling Christmas book for children, this is fantastic. The Little Golden Book series is classic, the pictures are fun and colorful, and with chipmunk names like Nina and Nutley, you cannot go wrong.

Copyright 1985. This is a Little Golden Book. I always liked Amye Rosenberg's Illustrations. The story is about a family of chipmunks who decide to dress up their tree home so Santa can find them. Will he?

A favorite Christmas read for my kids back in the day!

This was the first Christmas book I bought as an adult, I was pregnant and I knew I had to have this book for my child to grow up with. It was always my favorite. It isn't Christmas until we have celebrated with Nina, Nutley and Aunt Mim

Yes, I’m counting it 😂 It’s December and I’m 11 books away from my Goodreads goal. This was my favourite when I was a kid and I remember reading it every year before Christmas. Now that I found a copy I can bring that tradition back.

This was a top 5 book from my childhood that I stumbled upon at my parents and am thrilled to report it's just as magical and captivating as I remembered

Apparently my Cottage-core love began early...

This book is amazing. It is one of the highlights of my childhood. I loved it so much. Even after all this time all I had to do was see the cover to remember how much it meant to me.

My favorite Christmas book as a child, such an adorable story. I still have my original copy from 1986 that my Grandma wrote my name in when I was 3 years old!

This book is a great read leading up to Christmas break. It's a good read aloud that can bring great conversation afterwards. Children can talk about the ornaments they put on their tree, or how big their tree is. Whether their family gets to go tree hunting or if they put up a fake one. So many conversations can be started through this little book. I give it a 5 out of 5.

A book about two chipmunks who are sad because Santa never visits them. To help Santa find their home, the animals and their neighbors work together to decorate their big tree. This book also promotes community as well as the real values that come from Christmas.

This is a good book for around the Christmas season. The mice are sad because Santa hasn't came but then they decorate the tree and he comes! This is a cute book about showing belief. I think this would be a good book for 2nd grade.

My daughter liked this book, but I wasn't too thrilled about the huge focus on presents. The whole reason the animals decorated the tree was so Santa would see it and not forget to come.
