Brief encounters in the bar, seductions in the pool or a menage in the elevator - this haven for the hedonistic promises as much heat, steam, lust and excitement as those who pass through it can handle. Conferences end with a bang; a gym instructor offers extremely personal training; illicit liaisons abound and flourish in the luxuriously appointed rooms. The daring sexual exploits of the staff and guests are often seen through the eyes of the Receptionist, who is on her own quest to snare the attentions of the charismatic Manager. Does the woman who offers a discreet venue for the indulgence of every secret desire and fetish - from satin sheets to rubber masks - have anything to offer him?
I am Justine Elyot. I love to write erotica and erotic romance. Elements you are likely to find in my work include: moustachioed melodrama villains, whips, wisecracks, knights in tarnished armour, damsels under duress, lovers, leather, aquiline features, references to popular songs. I massively overuse qualifiers like ‘really’, ‘quite’, ‘actually’ etc. and can’t resist the temptation to substitute long words for ‘said’. Reviewers either rave or cringe, with very little middle reactive ground (insert Marmite cliche here). Which will you do?
Love a bit of Ms Elyot..Nice, dirty English gal, lot's of bum, spunk, arse etc, sorry US people, no ass etc.. Nice horny story about a dirty gal who joins a hotel and the sexy shenanigans she gets up to..believe a 2nd book so I'll give it a go as well
I not quite sure how to describe my thoughts on this book. It was well written, and the author has a great writing style. However, I wasn't sure abut how well it flowed. The main character Sophie has an infatuation with her manager Chase and whilst she does end up happily with another man, I didn't feel that Sophie's feelings for Chase were resolved, or what indeed Chase thought of Sophie. I also thought the relationship between Sophie and Lloyd seemed quite rushed and their wasn't much of a lead up to it, in fact I hardly recall Lloyd being mentioned in any important context before the group night at the pool. A bigger build up of their relationship would have probably drawn me into the story more easily, as well as making me sympathise with Lloyd more and not feel like Sophie ended up with the consolation prize because Chase didn't want her. Overall a well written, intriguing story and I'd recommend it to others, but due to the problems I felt it had its flow and the way the characters stories were resolved, I couldn't quite give it 4 stars, 3.5 stars in my opinion. I'd definitely read from this author again though, as her writing style was great.
This tightly themed short story collection captivated me immediately. The basic premise of the book is one of the sexiest things I can imagine: a woman who likes to hang out at the bar of a posh hotel and pick up men gets hired to work at the hotel's reception desk, offering the opportunity to continue her extracurricular exploits after hours! This setup, introduced in the first story, could hardly have been more appealing to me. I was hooked—and the rest of the book certainly lived up to its promise.
The aforementioned hotel receptionist, Sophie, is the main narrator throughout the collection. I much enjoyed the aspect of having a common narrator throughout the book, which, though each story is self-contained, I experienced as giving it a novel-like feeling. As a reader, I liked the familiarity this continuity prompted me to develop in relation to Sophie, many of the other characters, and even the setting (the posh hotel) throughout the work.
In addition to this book's considerable entertainment capacity, I found not only the sex but also the tension and context surrounding it (or even, in some cases, surrounding the lack thereof) intriguing, compelling, and unquestionably hot. Overall I found On Demand a bundle of fun packed full of entertaining sexiness, and I highly recommend it as a deeply engaging, personable, entertaining, and very hot read.
Saucy, steamy British erotica, told with a wonderfully witty, humorous voice. Linked stories follow the protagonist as her sex life takes off and evolves around a key location, a classy city hotel. I'm watching out for more naughty fun from Justine Elyot.
I am glad to see that I was not the only person who could not get on with this book. It seemed too disjointed and for this reason I gave up on it very few pages into the book.
I absolutely loved this book! It was so much fun. Justine Elyot is a hoot and she makes you laugh.
One of the things that's so different about this story is that while it's a series of sexy escapades that happen at a fancy hotel, it's mostly about Sophie Martin, the receptionist. Sophie is definitely a free spirit, willing to embrace her naughty side, and she gets into all kinds of intriguing scenarios. I actually got quite caught up in Sophie's story, wondering what would happen to her and her two men. The end was electrifying.
The side stories are awesome too. Most erotica books have a bunch of stories that are all the same. This is not true with "On Demand." Each story is very different and they all are spiced with Ms. Elyot's very funny sense of humor. I was grinning from ear to ear!
I really enjoyed this book and thought for sure this was going to be a 5 star read! That was until I got to the closing chapter. Yes it had a super awesome sex scene that I would never try and never the less enjoyed reading but generally it just did not make sense! Going from one dramatic catastrophe and ending with "now we own the hotel" just did not work for me. Extremely well worth reading if you are looking for ideas to expand your sexual horizon or if you just want to live vicariously through another woman. Better than Fifty Shades Of Grey.

So...you're going to look at the cover of On Demand and think, That is a HOT cover.
Don't stop there. TREAT YOURSELF AND BUY THIS BOOK. I promise you, On Demand more than lives up to the promise of the glossy gorgeousness on the outside. You haven't met a heroine quite like Sophie. And trust me, not only are you going to love her, but you're going to feel exactly like she does when you come nose-to-book with The Manager.
Hm. This is a very explicit and very dirty book, consisting of a series of short stories tied together by recurring main character and fellow employees at the hotel where the stories are set. I felt detached from the main character - the scenes are told in a distant first person, descriptions cool, so it was hard to feel much compassion or much of anything really. There is a HEA, of sorts for the main character. I don’t know that I would classify it as a romance though.
Found this book to be a fairly easy read. Sophie was a girl that was definitely very sure of herself and knew how to get what she wanted. I loved the way this book ended. It was nice to read that she was able to be happy with this one guy but still be able to have fun as well.
Struggled through to the end but it was hard work. It was disjointed, lacked flow and no sense of time across the short stories that made up the novel. Definitely not my favourite in the genre
