Let me start by saying I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters! Even though I guessed the plot twist in the prologue, I completely enjoyed the story.

Cora is an amazing character and I loved her story, her relationship to the other characters and overall enjoyed this world.

I received an ARC, so some things weren't edited yet like Becketts eye color changing.

If you are looking for an enjoyable ghost story with mystery and a bit of romance look no further.

I love Daphne Bloom's books. I think they are great, and I really do love this series. That being said, this book is not in my top 3 faves for this series and honestly, I really wanted it to be when I read the blurb. I thought that it was going to be more interesting than all the others and it DEFINITELY had the potential to be. It just fell a little flat romance wise for me.

The idea behind Cora coming back and her living through history was awesome. It confused me a little because at some points, she says that she died and then just magically woke up and at other points she says that she lived through everything. I kind of just went with the idea that she lived through it all partially because that is the outcome I preferred. I know that as a mother, if I were to ever become a ghost, I would want to hold my child's hand as they move on and so I liked that version of it.

I'm getting off topic, sorry about that. My main reason behind giving this one a 3 was because, like I said earlier, I didn't feel the love. I felt like the investigation into Cora and her ability to be present overshadowed the love in this one quite a bit. I get that there was a story to tell, and it was an interesting story but, I feel like we could have done with a couple more scenes where Cora and Beckett explore their romance. I would have liked a few more chapters in Beckett's POV because I just didn't understand why he would like her. She was moody and acted like a child. I also get why she was like that; she was afraid to move on, but still, she threw tantrums. Beckett didn't seem like the kind of guy to want to deal with that but hey, what do I know.

There were some really great aspects of this book. I loved the historical portions and the solving a 200+ years old closed/cold case. I loved that Cora didn't hold anything against Jeremiah. I would have liked to have a scene where we have Jeremiah talk to Cora, ghost to ghost. That would have been an awesome add-in. I feel so bad for him, and I thought he got a raw deal.

I would have liked to learn more about the why behind Elizabeth's deceit. I think I get it, jealously, but I want to thoroughly understand why, you know? Cora doesn't ever really get the closure she needs there. I didn't get the closure I needed there. I would have liked to have known that she met a bad end. Cora's former husband too. It wasn't enough for me to know what I do know (I am really trying not to give spoilers). I also want more information on her son. Did he ever know that Cora wasn't murdered the way he thought? Did he do his own investigating? I have questions, obviously.

This was a cute read as are all of the others in this series. I do recommend them and no, you don't have to read them in order, but they do make a little more sense if you do. The side characters in each book are usually found in a different book. A recurring character in all of them is our dear Beverly (the matchmaking witch). You will fall in love with her and her wily ways as the series progresses.

Please do read this series, seriously. You will fall in love with the town and it's crazy and wonderful inhabitants!.

Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover

Despite the saying, we do judge a book by its cover. At first glance, this book made me think it was a romantic comedy about a modern-day, cocktail-drinking, slit-skirt-wearing woman somehow becoming romantically involved with a man who happened to be a ghost. I could not have been more wrong! The heroine, Cora, is the ghost (and wouldn’t be caught alive or dead in the outfit on the cover!), and in the very first chapter, we get a glimpse of her life in post-Revolutionary War America. That chapter ends with her death, and the next one starts in modern times, where she has been residing as a ghost in her beloved family bookshop, the place where she was killed. She is not bound to the space, as at times has traveled the world in specter form, but she always comes back home. After another boring day in her 270-plus-year existence, she wishes she had someone to share her life with. Suddenly, she finds herself reanimated, feeling air move in her lungs and her vocal cords vibrating her throat. The family bookshop has been passed down from generation to generation, so one of her great-great-plus grandkids currently runs the store. The book's title is as misleading as its cover, as there's not really a blind date aspect to this. Yes, Cora's great-great-plus granddaughter is a bit of a matchmaker, but neither party is unknown to the other. Suspense grows as they try to figure out how exactly she was reanimated and if those who did so had sinister intent, but Cora just wants to enjoy her second chance at life. I've read this author's Regency romances and quite enjoy them. She has a fantastic, smooth writing style that makes the words just drift away, immersing you in the characters’ world, caught up in their world that feels so real even if it is fantastical like this one. This is a fun, romantic read. Watching Cora try to adjust to modern life is also good fun. The hero is a protector, a detective who believes in the paranormal…and who has an attraction to Cora that precedes her reanimation!

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Ghostly romance

Beverly Barnes powerful witch, matchmaker extraordinaire and bookshop owner has a ghost. Or rather she inherited the shop from her ancestor who Clara Barnes who is now a ghost. She was murdered and now drifts aimlessly trying to figure out why she hasn’t moved on. Until one night in desperation she makes a wish to not be alone and suddenly she is alive again. All Cora wants to do is live, but Beverly is worried. After all how is she alive again? Did someone bring her back, if so who and why? And so their quests begin Beverly to find answers, Cora to live life. Unfortunately for Cora whomever raised her has plans for her so pretending to be normal and not thinking about anything isn’t going to work. She, Beverly, Sophia, her husband Jacob and Detective Beckett Dawson must work together to find the witches or warlocks behind this and solve the mystery that is Cora.
A twisty turn plot with some shocking surprises about Cora’s life, death and rebirth for lack of a better term. A sweet romance with some very unique twists. I eagerly look forward to each new addition to this series. The books are a lovely diversion, with a hea guaranteed.

Cora died about two hundred years ago and was living in a kind of limbo since then. Although she could travel the world, she always came back to The Book Coven in Mystic Cove, the store she most loved and the place where she died. One night she woke up in the woods and realized she was actually alive. Fast forward and she is with her great-great-great-great-granddaughter, Beverly Barnes, matchmaker and witch extraordinaire. Concerned that something dangerous is afoot, Beverly invites Detective Becket Dawson to investigate. And so Cora and Becket become Beverly’s newest match. In this story, Cora is all over the place emotionally….and rightly so. Besides dealing with all the new discoveries and revelations, she is fighting some unknown source that is trying to capture her. Becket is a stand-up guy. Not only is he the voice of reason, but he is clearly besotted with, and protective of Cora. Many of the couples Beverly matched in previous books appear in this story, adding support and/or lending their expertise. This is a clever tale with wonderfully created characters, a budding romance and a cold case mystery to solve. Quite entertaining!.

Investigating Cora's Death . . .

For over 200 years, Cora Barnes has been a ghost who, for some reason, had never moved on. She had been attacked at “The Book Cove” by a werewolf, Jeremiah Holland, and he was hanged for her murder. But Cora is still around in her ghostly form. Cora’s great-great-great granddaughter, Beverly Barnes, is the latest to have inherited her book store. But when Cora wishes to not be alone anymore, she actually finds herself suddenly “alive” -- not like when she merely awakened as a ghost, but now living and breathing! Beverly is worried for her. She knows that someone had to bring her back… but why?

Apparently whoever brought Cora back may indeed have plans for her. Can her friends and family help to find whatever witch or warlock did this? What did they want? Because Cora cannot begin to actively live her new life only to find out that it’s a short term visit and won’t last very long. She doesn’t want to let herself fall in love with the handsome Detective Beckett Dawson only to die again.

This was an intriguing story. There is much to be uncovered and wrongs made right. Grab your copy and find out all the secrets they manage to uncover.

This book is an awesome asks him to take her to the only personaddition to this series! It’s well written with quirky characters, a magical and mystical storyline and the excellent world building just brings it all together nicely. Cora Barnes was murdered by a werewolf 200 years ago. She spent those 200 years as a ghost, haunting her beloved book shop and watching it pass down through her family. Now she’s alive and she doesn’t know how. When she’s nearly run over by Beckett Dawson, the hunky detective that always has stares at her portrait in the book shop, she asks him to take her to the only person who might understand, her great great great granddaughter Beverly. Now she’s alive she wants to stay that way and she wants to live the life she missed out on. Beverley and Beckett need to investigate though, if someone is bringing long the way people back from the dead, they need to find out who, and why Cora of all people? If there’s a little matchmaking along the way, well it won’t hurt, hopefully.

I have read all of the books in the Love is Blind series and have enjoyed each one of them. This book was no exception.

Cora used to work at the Mystic Cove bookstore - back when she was living... Now she is still at the bookstore and seems to return there no matter where she goes. The bookstore is now run by her decendent Beverly, a well-known matchmaker.

One evening, after feeling rather lonely, Cora finds herself in the woods of Mystic Cove, very much alive! How and why she does not know, nor does she care. She wants to fully enjoy her second chance. However, Beverly and Beckett, Mystic Cove's detective, think it's important to know who is powerful enough to bring her back, and more importantly...why??.

I enjoyed My Blind Date is a Ghost: A Paranormal Romance Book 5 of Love is Blind. Cora has been dead for over 200 years and still wondering around Mystic Cove. She’s drawn to Beckett as a ghost and he seems to always be drawn to her picture. They aren’t sure how it happened but suddenly Cora is no longer a ghost and strange things are happening. Beverly, Beckett, Cora and some of her descendants are tying to figure out her past and what is going on in the future. Questions regarding her death come up. Did she really die as they said? This was a great storyline and I loved the characters. I’m glad Cora finally got her HEA. I would definitely recommend this book.

Loved the narration of Kristen Saburn, who brings the humour, drama and romance to your ears. Perfect.

200 years ago Cora Barnes was murdered by a werewolf, since then she has been a ghost. Cora passes her time by haunting her book shop, that has been pass down through her family. One day she finds herself alive and has no idea how that it happened. On that day the gorgeous Police Detective nearly runs her over. Cora askes him to take her to her great great great granddaughter Beverly. Both Beckett and Beverley start to investigate what is happening. All the while Cora and Beckett start a love story.

A satisfying ghost story

I knew from the first few pages who the killer was, so I hope I’m not spoiling it for a future reader. But I love the way that the story came together. And I’ve always wanted to live around witches werewolves and vampires, especially the kind compassionate types. Having a relative who lived in Salem during the trials, I always feel an attachment to the supernatural. Even if there didn’t seem to be any real witches in Salem, just innocent victims. But Cora is an incredibly fun protagonist in this book in the family. I just wish we could get more books about her..

I appreciate how the author takes something you know, builds on it and turns it on its head. The way Cora was a ghost and her abilities was neat. I really like the mystical town featured in these books. Cora and Beckett were cute but I still think my favorite couple from the series was Dianna and Parker. Cora’s background was really interesting and actually Beckett’s was as well. The relationship did seem to take a back seat to the plot but the plot was really good.

This is probably my favourite of the series so far. I love the concept of Cora being a ghost and coming back to life and the mystery to this paranormal romance.
I love the notion that Cora is so much more than what her generation placed the importance on (being a mother and a wife) and that both Cora and Beckett both were indignant at her husband reducing her to only those roles.
Cora and Beckett are so charming together!.

I really enjoyed this next installment of My Blind Date is…
Many of the characters I have grown to love are back to add flare and their own special type of mischief.
The story itself was not what I expected which I absolutely loved because it gave it so much life and perspective.
Cora and Beckett have become one of my favorite couples in this series. They are both so different yet so much alike that discovering one another was a great journey to go on with them.

The author has given us a nice, clean story that pulls us into the lives of Cora, Beckett and distant family members as they try to figure out why Cora has returned to the living world after being a ghost for over two hundred years. The story keeps us turning the pages with suspense, magic, supernaturals and betrayal.

The first from this author that I've read. The story was cute but a little hollow. There wasn't really much depth to the story or setting, I think it could have been so much more - I mean you have a suddenly corporeal 200+ year old ghost living in a town full of supernatural beings... That being said, the story was cute and I didn't dislike it. The ACR copy was FULL of typos and errors and needs a thorough proofread prior to publication.

the unexpected death and later resurrection of a young mother is a wrenching whodunnit juxtaposed against a touching and sometimes humorous romance

can she trust herself and her heart for an unexpected second chance? can her trust and self esteem survive the first betrayals?

love, loss and the courage to hope.

Cora has been dead for over 200 years and has spent most of her time as a ghost in Mystic Cove, following her family and her beloved bookshop. Now suddenly she’s alive, and no one knows why. Luckily, she has the help of some powerful magical descendants and a handsome human detective. Not all of the secrets she uncovers are pleasant, but Cora loves her new chance at life.

Great Book

This book is very interesting and not what you think from the title. A woman that lived during the revolutionary war was murdered and became a ghost, she then finds herself alive again. Her descendants are witches and investigate along with the town detective to try to find out how this happened. Also the woman who was a ghost finds real love in her new life. I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it if you enjoy supernatural stories.

Cute, Charming Paranormal Mystery, Works as Standalone

While this is #5 of a currently 6 book series, this contemporary cozy paranormal mystery would work well as a standalone. Though the characters are ghosts, zombies, witches and paranormal, they are charming community minded citizens of cute small town. Well narrated with distinct characterizations. Some characters carry over from earlier books, but not in a way that effects understandability.
