What do a deer and a fawn, a duck and a duckling, a tiger and a cub all have in common with you and your baby? The same important bond that all babies need to learn and grow. This charming board book illustrates that profound bond between mother and child by using stunning photos of baby animals learning and growing with their mothers. Simple text imbedded with real-life facts invites children to learn how different animal babies learn and grow with the care of their mothers.
This book was bought for Devin before he was born with the best intentions. However, he does not really care for this book. There is WAY too much text and the pictures don't capture his attention. It might be good for an older child, like maybe 2 or 3 years old, but its supposedly targeted to infants. I suspect he might like it more when he is older and interested in learning about how animals live (rather than just working on actually identifying various animals).
For some reason my younger children really, really, really like the Baby Einstein books . Mama and Me is a short book that lists a few different baby animals and the role their parents play in their lives.
Exploring the mama and baby relationships of animals helps kids understand and appreciate their familial relationships. This is a sweet book and a nice early introduction to non-fiction.
