SpongeBob sends away for a free toy from the back of a cereal box. He is so excited that he vows to wait by his mailbox, day and night, until his prize arrives. But will his free toy be worth the long wait? Find out in this hilarious original story!
Steven Banks has numerous writing and acting credits. He has been a head writer for several Nickelodeon series including "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron", "The Fairly Odd Parents", "CatDog", and "Sponge Bob Square Pants". His play, "Love Tapes," co-written with Penn Jillette (of Penn and Teller fame), was recently performed at the Sacred Fools Theater in Hollywood. And he created, wrote, produced, and starred as himself in "The Steven Banks Show," a comedy series which aired on PBS in the 90s.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 STARS BECAUSE IT WAS (IS) AN AWSOME BOOK! WOULD SEND THIS PRODUCT TO A 1-4 MAYBE 5TH GRADERS
What a cute story! My 5 yr old and I loved this level 2 book. Either he's getting better at reading, or this level 2 was a little easier than most. Either way, it was a fun story.
It is a very fun book and it is super, super nice, but it makes no sense because why would you buy so much cereal boxes just for a piece of string that you could buy for $1.
A local resale store was giving away as many books as you could fit into a paper bag for $3.00, and this was one of the books that somehow ended up coming home with me. As a joke, I decided to read it to mum when I went over to see her.
Spongebob decides to pig out on cereal when he sees that if he sends in 100 box tops, he can get a free toy. Then, the waiting game begins. Squidward is, for the most part, written in his usual personality, but...
Frankly, it kinda sucked... but only because it has a different feel than the tv series does.

This was a fun story about Spongebob waiting for a long time for his free toy (that he redeemed from his cereal box) to come in through the mail.
---------------------------------------------- Part of a personal challenge to read all of my boyfriend's and his sister's childhood books before we donate and give them away.
"SpongeBob's Special Delivery" is a nice little primer. Written at the 2nd Grade level, it's doesn't have the problem some books do, where the story lacks continuity; i.e. it isn't absolutely necessary for your child to have seen this particular episode to understand what's going on. The story as presented holds together.
The story is about waiting for a prize from a cereal box. SpongeBob sends off for his 'mystery gift' and waits... and waits... and waits. With Patrick, of course, and to the annoyance of his neighbor, Squidward.
Besides the goofy humor of them waiting so long, when the prize comes, we find out that it's a piece of string. We might be unhappy if that was our prize, but SpongeBob and Patrick are delighted. Their delight soon ends though when the string breaks. I won't tell you what happens next, except to say that Squidward, of all people, comes to the rescue.
Talking Points::: Sponge Bob, Patrick, Squidward and Gary are pretty darn popular and so I think this book would be a fine 'motivational' book that would get children reading.
The artwork is cheerful and the color runs from page to page. The print is large and there aren't too many lines per page so it ought to be especially good for reluctant readers.
For those who are too young, I think they would still enjoy the story the the zany activities of the ocean's favorite sponge. Okay Read-Aloud.

This small 32 page Sponge-bob book is very good for kids starting to read at a 2nd grade level. I like how it tells a good story without needing to have seen the episode. This is a very quick read that I used to always enjoy when I was little.
