Ta Chuan is at the heart of the "I Ching," the world's most profound divination system and the basis of Chinese cosmology. Now, in a lyrical and scrupulously faithful Taoist translation and commentary, Stephen Karcher opens up this revolutionary classic and explores it for the benefit of Western readers, explaining to them how its insightful teachings can be applied to life in the modern world. Much of the Ta Chuan is focused on telling readers how to use the techniques of change. This is the most potent spiritual tool in existence, a way to radically transform awareness, open the heart, and contact the helping spirits. The book teaches readers to free themselves from fear and compulsion, achieve their full potential, become wiser and more able, become more helpful to others, and to fulfil their fates.
Detailed info on the history of the I-Ching, with the creation of it and use by both practitioners of Taosim and Confucianism. The first portion is the history of and the second portion takes stories, and breaks them down into Taoist and Confucian lessons.
I appreciated and enjoyed the inclusion of both the Confucian and the Taoist Ta Chuan and I Ching interpretations and teachings but only the Taoist perspective felt like I could grasp and understand.
