This is an unexpectedly cute story with a very resourceful heroine and a hero who cannot help but love her through her misadventures.

Brief summary:
Joslyn Penderton does not wish to marry the Captain Farraday stipulated in her father's will, being that she has never met him and wants to be independent and host salons for military wives. She decides to escape to her father's hunting lodge until her 21st birthday (a few weeks) to get her inheritance. Along the way, she rescued an unconscious man on the road, not knowing that he is actually her betrothed.

The hero - Devon - omits his identity and plans to get her to his aunt's house, upon which he'll resolve to get her married to suitors. However, on the way there there are multiple kidnappings, and he remains reluctant to reveal his true identity as Captain Farraday and the Marquess of Ruston, even as he falls in love with Joslyn.
