The Demonata #1-3

The Demonata Collection: Lord Loss / Demon Thief / Slawter

Rate this book
See, Demons are real. Gross, misshapen, magical beings with a hatred of humas matched only by their taste for human flesh. They live in their own universe, but try to cross over into ours all the time.

Told in the tradition of true horror greats like Stephen King and Clive Barker, The Demonata is the terrifying chonicle of demons and the humans who fight to protect Earth from their savage hunger for pain and suffering. Descend into a world of bloodthirsty demons, howling werewolves, real magic, and the gross and the gory. This bone chilling new series will keep readers turning page after horrifying page.

I am new to commenting about what I think or how I feel about the books I read, So from now on, I will start posting my opinion.
The book
Lord Loss
I read this book as a kid, so reading again as an adult was enjoyable. I loved this book because it had demons, werewolves, and teenagers. It was entertaining and engaging and sometimes had me on the edge of my seat. I love reading a book and being scared, and the author really accomplished that, even though this book is meant for kids. This book does have blood and gore, so depending on how old your child is, they probably shouldn't read it if they get scared easily. The author made the characters funny and relatable while giving them flaws and captivating internal conflict.
Grubs, short for Grubitsch (The main character), went from being an annoying little brother who smokes and hangs out with the wrong crowd to becoming a selfless hero.
Grub's uncle Dervish had to take care of him after some crazy and horrific things happened to his parents and sister. I loved how Dervish could be serious and still joke at the worst of times.
The demon lord Loss was written to be ugly, with a hole in his chest with snakes and sometimes maggots crawling through it. I don't know how Grubs was strong enough to go up against Lord Loss and his minions because I would have died just by looking at them. I don't want to say too much about the book, just in case someone still needs to read it, but the chess boards were a unique element that was put into the book.

This novel was written by Darren Shan. Grady's family were cursed to be a werewolf. It happened before Grady was born. The only person that could remove the curse was Lord Loss. Lord made a deal with Grady ancestor, that for him to cure any of the family member that the had the disease, they would have to play a chess with him on five different board. It is an interesting novel to read, but scary. I recommend this novel to those who enjoys's reading horror book.

Read this series back in middle school, and had my mind blown by the immense amount of gore and violence Darren Shan got away with for Young Adult novels. The first two are definitely my favorite of the series, and I would highly recommend picking them up if you're a fan of horror and Demon mythology. They are brisk reads, but plenty fun!

What would you do if you found out your brother was a werewolf? The book The Demonata Lord Loss by Darren Shan was an awesome book full of adventure, and action packed scenes. I would give it a rating of 4 1/2 stars.

One of the reasons I loved this book was because of all the action going on from beginning to the end of the book. One example of the action in this book is when lord loss, shows up with his two other demons and they kill Grady Grubbs mom dad and sister. It was full of suspense in that chapter . Another example of the action is when Grady Grubbs brother turns into a werewolf, and grady himself has to change back to a human.

Another reason why I liked this book was because of the suspence the author leaves you with. One example of the suspense is when Grady goes looking for his parent only to find them dead. There was also a lot of suspense when grady was battling Lord Loss’s demon friends, not knowing if they were going to win or if he was going to win.

These are the reasons I loved this book. With these points in mind, I would suggest you read this book, it was very good and full of suspense and action going on nonstop.

Well, I must say these are interesting books, only if you can stand gore. Actually, a LOT of gore and guts and fighting. They are fast-paced, heart pounding adventures and can be for horror fans, (though I would never characterize myself as one), and fantasy lovers. These are the first three books in the 10 book series and they are about three different main characters: Grubbs Graddy, Kernal Flec, and Bec. They are all trying to fight off the evil demons who try to cross over into our/their world all the time. They each have a special ability. It's pretty original and there are plot twists everywhere. Just remember, if you get grossed out by the third chapter of the first book, Lord Loss, stop reading cause it gets worse. Happy reading!

If you are into scarey and dramatic books, then you should read the Demonatat series. This book is about a boy named Grubbs that lives in a world with demons. He is on the set of a movie and there is a scene of the movie. In the movie, there is a scene where a fake demon is included, but it is actually real. I reccomond this book to actually anyone, but especially people who are into horror books.

The Demonata series is a wonderful read. From the start until the end, you’ll be gripped, with the storyline being intricately woven throughout the books. Whilst it may seem, at the start, as though the books are telling different stories such is not the case. Everything is brought together wonderfully and you cannot appreciate the magic of the series unless you work your way through it.

Without a doubt, one of my favourite reads from my later childhood.
