The popular Social Studies Connects series links history, geography, civics and economics to kids’ daily lives. Featuring stories with diverse characters who face situations young readers can relate to, these books support reading and social studies skills including researching, inferring, comparing, and communication. An activity to stimulate curiosity about the world is included in each book!Rules are ruining Rex’s life—or so he thinks. Will taking a break from rules make him feel better, or worse? (Social Studies Civics/Rule and Laws)
This book was recommended to be read to the third grade classroom I am in. I think it would be more appropriate for first or second grade. The book is about a boy named Rex who hates rules, so his family decides to have no rules for one weekend. Rex finds out that having no rules isn't as fun as he thought it would be. It teaches kids that rules are very important, and without rules life would be very chaotic!
