***MY RECOMMENDATION IS FOR A BOOK BY THE SAME TITLE WRITTEN BY EDWARD JOHNSTON. The description for this book mirrors that of the book by Edward Johnston so I can only assume it is the same book and Mr. Lethaby is an editor.***

My recommendation for Writing & Illuminating & Lettering--The Artistic Crafts Series of Technical Handbooks by Edward Johnston:

This is the quintessential tool box for the calligrapher. Covers the history of lettering, tools, practice, methodology, illumination, use of color as well as providing historical examples of classic works.

Highly recommended!
