Adrienne Gruber's third full poetry collection, Q & A, is a poetic memoir detailing a first pregnancy, birth and early postpartum period. The poet is both traumatized and transformed by the birth of her daughter. She is compelled by the dark places birth takes her and as she examines and revisits those places, a grotesque history of the treatment of pregnant and birthing women reveals itself.
If you are a Mother, you will love all of the delicious bits in this short book of poetry about conception, childbirth, motherhood, and love. I particularly liked learning about "The Blonsky". OMG hilarious, thank goodness it it did not take off like many of the other crazy childbirth ideas used on women over the years.
Q&A is a gorgeous collection of poems by @adriennegruber (who just released a new collection of essays called MONSTERS, MARTYRS, AND MARIONETTES). It's about those first heady years of motherhood and it's such a treat.
